Recycled Tube Seat Cover Cushion

3228_recycled_tube_seat_fabric_cushIf you face a daily commute on the London Underground, the last thing you’ll probably want to come home to is a Recycled Tube Seat Cover Cushion. But for anyone who doesn’t regularly travel across London, then these cushions from Creatively Recycled Empire have a certain kitsch appeal.

Creatively Recycled Empire worked alongside London Underground in a seven year waste management project, to recycle two tonnes of waste seat covers produced during train refurbishments. 5, 833 tube seats have been recycled in the project in total.

Pictured here is the Vintage Northern Line cushion but there are plenty of lines to choose from, to match your décor or to commemorate your favorite journey. Cushions made from London bus seat covers are also available too. Most of the cushion cost around £27 and further details on how to order can be found on the Creatively Recycled Empire website.

DFS introduces Nimbo – budget take on Ligne Roset’s classic Togo seating

Dfs_nimbo

Imitation is said to be the sincerest form of flattery. So Ligne Roset should be very flattered by the new Nimbo seating from DFS.

That’s because it’s a very close copy of the company’s classic Togo design by Michel Ducaroy. Ligne Roset introduced Togo in 1973 – the first all-foam sofa – and it’s still a best seller, as well as a contemporary item, thanks to the ever-changing range of covering materials.

Gibson limited edition Jimmy Page 1275 double neck electric guitar

Page_guitar

Led Zeppelin are (or is) all over the press right now with their much-anticipated reunion – reason enough for us to feature this limited edition Gibson Jimmy Page 1275 double neck electric guitar – the iconic merging of a 6 and 12-string instrument.

This is an exact copy of the Jimmy Page Signature Double Neck, present to the Led Zep guitarist back in 1971 by Gibson. Just 250 have been made in a ‘weathered’ dark cherry colour, with ‘period-correct’ mahogany necks, rosewood fingerboards, 5-ply pickguard, four Page pickups, and two volume and tone control knobs.

The instrument comes with a custom case, certificate of authenticity and a pretty hefty price tag – $7,999.95

Burton introduces £70 wool pea coat

Burton_peacoat
I’m not a regular shopper at the local Burton store, but if you happen to be after something classic like a pea coat as the temperatures drop, you might want to check out this wool pea coat from the store.

It’s very much the classic pea coat in black – double-breasted, two lower pockets, two handwarmer pockets and made of 50 per cent wool mixed with 50 per cent viscose. It is also machine washable.

All that for a reasonable £70 outlay.

Space Invaders flashing LED door mat

Invaders_doormat_animated

Door mats as technology? Yes, that’s the case with this Space Invaders flashing LED door mat.

It works on three levels – firstly, it keep the dirt off your lovely new carpets, secondly, it impresses your gadget-loving friends and thirdly, those glowing/flashing invaders might deter any unwanted visitors from crossing your threshold. But probably not.

The flashing image works on a motion sensor, so you’ll not be annoyed by it all day and it is powered by 4x AAA batteries. Available from ThinkGeek, you can pick one up for $69.99 (around £35).

Anne Kyrro Quinn Target Cushions

TargetMod targets are everywhere theses days (see the shoelaces we featured the other day for proof) so the design has probably lost some of its credibility. But designer Anna Kyyro Quinn has injected some new life into the motif with her Target Cushions.

The rings on her design are more elliptical than the uniform circles of the traditional target symbol and she has shunned the red/blue/white combination in favour of more unusual colour combinations such as the oatmeal/grey/red picture or pink/olive/pink. They are available in oblong or square in a variety of size, all made from luxury natural fabrics and cut, sew and finished by hand.

The only downside is that it comes at a cost with prices ranging from £115 to £150 on the Urban Suite website.
