Like Marmite itself, this Dualit Marmite Special Edition toaster is something you will either love or hate.
Mixing two classics, the Dualit chrome look and the Marmite logo (which is cut into the chrome side), this toaster has all the features you would expect and room for two slices of bread.
V & A Print Shop is currently highlighting the work of fashion photographer, John French. Not perhaps as famous nor as synonymous with Swinging London, as David Bailey (who started off as his assistant), Terence Donovan or Patrick Lichfield, French was still hugely influential, in particular for his use of natural light and bringing fashion photography into the mainstream mass media.
After his death in 1966, his widow donated an archive of his work to the V&A museum, and it is reprints of these photographs that now being offered for sale. Around 150 of his works are available from the fifties and sixties, including several featuring Jean Shrimpton and others like the one pictured here of projections onto models’ bodies.
As with other prints from the V&A, you can buy them in a range of formats, starting at £5 for a 5” x 7” print up to £65 for a 20” by 30” print. The images can also be put onto rolled or stretched canvases with prices between £50 and £225. To see the full range, visit the V&A Print Shop.
The musical Grease is back in London’s west end, so what better time to kit out your dining room/kitchen fifties diner style?
This look is not for the faint-hearted and you’ll need plenty of space for two booth seats and table. But if the full-on Americana style is for you then Happy Days have a fun selection of replica booths to recreate that diner in your home.
There are a variety of colours available with prices ranging from £550 to £650 according to the design. Visit the Happy Days website to see their full range.
Another piece of vintage sportswear reissued – the Nike Original Windrunner.
This is a reissue of the first-ever Nike ‘Windrunner’, with the original colour scheme of navy and red and with both the Nike logo and Pinwheel logo on the chest.
Personally, we’re waiting for the reissue of the Patrick cagoule, but until then, this could fill the gap at £65.
We mentioned a few weeks back that Lambretta Clothing was issuing an officially-sanctioned range of Who Clothing. Well, that clothing hits the shops in September – and we have images of some of the replica pieces.
There were initially two ranges – Tribute and Iconic – but these have now been merged. But you might have to check out some higher-end stores for the replica clobber, such as the blazer and shirts.
And we haven’t prices as yet. But for now, check out some of the items above and over the turn.
Grundig is 100 years old – and to celebrate, it is reissuing arguably its finest hour – the Audiorama speakers from the 1970s.
These space age gems come as either floorstanding or ceiling hanging configurations and in black or white, both offering 360-degree sound around your room.
Other details are scarce, but we do know that they are due for launch next February, with a price of 600 Euros (around £420) per set. I’ll see you in the queue. Find out more at the Grundig website
