Retro Trabant sports bags

Trabant_bags

Big thanks to Fabrizia for pointing us in the direction of the Logoshirt site in Germany, which is packed full of retro designs, including these rather smart retro Trabant sports bags.

The Trabant (if you didn’t know) was a small East German-made car, which has become something of a cult item in recent years, after many more years of being a joke. The bag uses the original logo on a typical vintage-style sports bag in a choice of colour.

They sell for around 25 Euros, which is about £16, along with postage to your country.

Andy Warhol pop watch set

Warhol_watchset
And today’s bargain of the day is…this Andy Warhol pop watch set.

Why? Because you get four Warhol-styled (and Swatch-like) watches. Each is sized at 1.25 inches x 9 inches, limited edition  – and the black one even glows in the dark. Add to that a rather smart case with "banana" fastener and you would be expecting a hefty price tag.

But no…you can pick these up from Fred Flare for $75, which is around £38. So by my reckoning, that’s £9.50 per watch, with the case thrown in for free.

You don’t find value like that often.

Andrew Tanner Flocked ceramic birds

Birds

Birds on a wall – about as 70s as you can get – and made famous by Hilda Ogden’s living room in Coronation Street. Well, if that’s a look you’re after, you can still get them with these Andrew Tanner Flocked ceramic birds.

Slightly more upmarket than the the ones you might remember from a relative’s house, these are earthenware ceramic, with an off-white glaze and a flock detail if you look closely.

The price reflects their new-found status as hip pieces of design – £13.50 each.

Karhu Originals String Volley trainers

Karhu_volley
Yet more sports gear from the Karhu archive – this time from 1981 with the Karhu Originals String Volley trainers.

Volleyball was apparently big business in the early 80s in Finland – and the best teams wore these shoes. They have a mesh-nylon upper, with suede reinforcements, along with a rubber outsole and air-cushioned sole.

You can pick up a pair online, priced around £70.

Danelectro retro HoneyTone mini amplifier

Honeytone
You probably remember the Danelectro 60s-style guitars we featured earlier this week. Well, it’s not just retro guitars being produced by the company, they also do a neat range of retro music accessories, including this Danelectro retro HoneyTone mini amplifier.

It’s got the looks, that’s for sure, with the chrome detailing and genuine leather handle. But it’s also quite a smart piece of kit. Louder than most mini amps, it offers you the choice of a clean or an overdriven vintage sound, a headphone socket if you want to keep it to yourself, along with volume and tone controls. And the whole thing is powered by a single 9 volt battery.

Available in a choice of colours, you can pick one up for £32.99.

George Nelson Petal Clock

Petal_clock
Good and interesting design is nearly always timeless. And if you didn’t know any better, you would probably think the George Nelson Petal Clock – or at the most, something from the 80s. Well, in actual fact, the clock was in production originally from 1956 to 1958.

It’s now been re-introduced by Vitra to the original specification, with construction from lacquered MDF and metal. The only update is a battery-powered quartz movement, powered by a single AA battery.

You can pick one up for £152.
