Emma Ferguson Cassette Pillow

Cassette_pillow
With iPods, MP3s and CD recording, it’s easy to forget the way many of us heard so much music for the first time – the humble cassette. And in tribute to that classic format is this Emma Ferguson Cassette Pillow.

It’s a handmade applique pillow, sized at 30cm x 39cm. But here’s the cool bit – in tribute to your favourite compilation tape, this Cassette Pillow can be customised with your very own title. Just send over the title with your order and it will be embroidered on when you receive it.

Available online, you can pick one up for around £25.

Kavel’s Hello Kitten show in London

Kavel_art
Kavel Rafferty
is one of our favourite artist/designers right now, so we’re spreading the word on her latest exhibition taking place at The Social bar in London.

According to Kavel, the Hello Kitten project began when she found a bundle of late 50s Swedish porn magazines at a local flea market. She has combined inky drawings of her favorite women with the other calendar staple, kittens, (the kittens come from her vintage postcard collection) left over remnants of
paint palettes and found imagery to make these slightly surreal (but eye-catching) mix media collages – one calendar girl for each month of the year.

Think of it as "pop porn" if you will. Hello Kitten will be showing at The Social bar on Little Portland St, London from April 4th 2007 for two months.

Syd Barrett play and 60s psych at London’s ICA

Freak
Interesting event at London’s ICA on 21st April – Freak Out, Ethel!, which is described as "an evening of musical mayhem".

What that means in reality is three bands and a play about Syd Barrett. The play is Malcolm Boyle’s one-man The Madcap –  a journey into the psychedelic underground as seen through the eyes of Syd Barrett, mixing narrative with hallucinatory film, slide projections and Boyle’s own interpretations of Barrett’s songs.

Along with that, there’s live performances from The Amazing World of Arthur Brown, Circulus and The Pretty Things, plus psychedelic visuals from Optikinetics (as pictured).

Tickets are £20 / £18 (concessions) and  £16 ICA Members

Nixon Diamond Rotolog – with added bling

Nixon_diamond
We featured the Nixon Rotolog watch some time back, a great 70s throwback timepiece with a price tag of around £200. I expect you’ll be paying a lot more for the Diamond Rotolog version.

It features 764 white diamonds and 1,087 full cut black diamonds, along with a hardened stainless steel casing and a stainless steel bracelet housing all that bling.

So how much is this watch? I don’t know – as yet, they’re not saying. What they do say is that it’s going to be available exclusively in the US at Barney’s stores. So if you’re in the area and have a good limit on the credit card, why not drop in?

Turn your ipod into a vintage alarm clock

Ipod_alarm
Is your iPod looking a little too modern? Well, how about turning it into a vintage-styled timepiece with the Retro iPod Alarm Clock.

Actually, it’s not that simple – look closely and you’ll find the "bells" are actually speakers and the "clock" charges your iPod. But it still works as an alarm clock – plug in your player and it converts to an alarm clock, waking you up with your choice of playlist or song. There’s also a snooze function and a large chrome knob for adjusting volume.

Powered by mains only and compatible with most iPod models, it’s available now for £39.95.

Lacoste Sport Retro luggage

Lacoste_retro
There’s something really timeless about certain Lacoste products due to the consistency of the branding and styling. And this season, just in time for the holidays, they have some really cool luggage available under the Sport Retro banner.

Pictured is the Sport Retro dufle bag. Available in five colours (which includes this Lacoste green), it’s a hefty holdall with plenty of pockets plus wheels and handle extension if your luggage gets a little heavy. if that’s not big enough, they also do nylon suitcases in the same colour scheme, along with a range of smaller travel bags.

Judging by recent visits to Lacoste, you might have to ring around to find a store that stocks the full range (it varies considerably). Pricing to be confirmed.
