eBay watch: 1950s midcentury-style wooden cabinet

50s

So far, this 1950s midcentury-style wooden cabinet is something of a steal. Here's hoping that's the case when the auction ends.

It's not a designer piece, but it is an interesting design, with those four angles legs, two drawers and a pull-down lower section for extra storage.

No mention of the kind of wood here, but the condition is described as 'very good' with 'light wear' on the top section. Want it? Right now, it's at just £9. Check out the seller's other items too, plenty of other pieces from a similar era too.

Retro Maternity Jeans from Topshop

Maternitymoto

While the options for true vintage maternity wear might be limited to smocks and voluminous dresses, there's plenty of retro options available for expecting mums available from modern retailers. These Maternity Skinny Jeans from Topshop are ideal for creating a cool cropped mid-century look with all the comfort you need thrown in.

The skinny cut combined with a cropped leg create a cool capri style, ideal for fifties and sixties looks. The use of bright shades of red and teal add another element to the vintage feel, offering a great wardrobe basic. The jeans have elastic panelling at the waistline to accommodate for the baby bump, too.

They're now available from Topshop for £38.

Coffee Time print by Laura Amiss

Dandelion clocks print

We've shown you prints that are inspired by some great retro designs before. This Coffee Time print by Laura Amiss features one of our favourite – and one of the most popular – designs of recent time: Dandelion Clocks by Sanderson.

Laura is based in Amsterdam and has produced a simple A4-sized print that plays up the fifties looks of the design: if you can't quite afford the wallpaper, this is surely a nice compromise.

It's certainly a lot cheaper as the print costs just 12 euros.

Gold Signet Anchor Ring from Balenciaga

Signetanchor

Thanks in part to Sailor Jerry's now iconic tattoo designs, nautical emblems have now become an unmistakeable part of retro fashion culture, inspiring prints and logos throughout fifties inspired clothing. This Gold Signet Anchor Ring from Balenciaga allows a subtle nod to fifties style that can be paired with any outfit.

Made from brass, the yellow gold shade has an instantly vintage look, with the signet design tying into the ring's nautical inspiration too. The engraved anchor design is simple and classic, drawing on a retro feel without looking cartoonish or over the top.

It's available online from Matches Fashion for £225.
