eBay watch: The Queen Mother’s 1970s Bedford 18-seater staff bus

Bus1

It's great finding weird and wonderful items on eBay – like this 1970s Bedford 18-seater bus, once owned by the Queen Mother.

Yes, according to the listing, this 1971 bus was bought for transporting the Queen Mum's luggage and staff and was finished by the bespoke bus bodybuilders Willowbrook in Leicestershire. In doubt? You'll also get all the original paperwork with it, including sale receipts, a quotation and letters from the Queen Mother's secretary and even a picture of the bus rolling off the production line.

Manchester Bus Print

Il_570xN_186708822
London’s transport is featured on plenty of things, but what of the North? Manchester has its own iconic transport in the old style orange bus that ran into the city, as is immortalised in this Manchester Bus Print.

The print is by Tea and Ceremony and features the 164 route which is the service that used to take the artist from their home into the city centre. The print is sold unframed but as it is A4 size it should be easy to frame yourself.

The Manchester Bus Print costs $18 (around £11.50) from Tea and Ceremony’s Etsy shop.

Double Decker Routemaster Print

181732_london+bus2_2
The Double Decker Routemaster Print from I Love Design celebrated the most iconic of all buses.

Rather than being drawn in the traditional red, the buses are all decorated in a choice of traditional British patterns. Yes, that does mean the Union Jack, but also two patterns that celebrate London with illustrations of phone boxes and landmarks and one decorated with a “bus and soldier” pattern. The history of the Routemaster is written at the bottom of the print.

The posters are sold unframed and cost £20 for the A3 size or £30 for the A2 size. Buy online from I Love Design’s shop on Not on the High Street.

Michelle Mason Piccadilly Circus cushion

Piccadilly_cushion

We've previously featured Michelle Mason's collaboration with London Transport. Her new cushion collection also draws inspiration from the capital and includes this charming Piccadilly Circus cushion

Inspired by old postcards, the design shows a very stylised view of Piccadilly Circus (if only there was that little traffic!), including Eros and the famous advertising hoardings. There's even a couple of classic Routemaster buses to be seen.

One of the other cushions features Columbia flower market, while the third shows a more generalised London street scene. All the designs are printed onto cotton satin and cost £45 each.
