eBay watch: 1950s Strand Patt 123 theatre lamp

Once a functional object for stage and screen, this Strand Patt 123 theatre lamp is now ideal for an interesting retro feature in your home.

According to the seller, the Patt 123 was first used in 1957 in stage and studio work, with this particular model professionally polished and rewired to take modern domestic bulbs, as well as being mounted on a tripod stand which rotates 360 degrees. This isn't the first Tretchikoff-inspired piece we've featured of late but with the original print becoming harder to find at a realistic price, the wave of contemporary interpretations is set to continue.

With the Green Lady print, illustrator Miss Swanne has saturated the more muted hues from Tretchikoff's famous 1950 'Chinese Girl' painting, giving the piece a pleasing pop art revamp.

It's a wall clock, one that would fit perfectly into a 1950s or early 60s-inspired home, with a metal case, contrasting hands, vintage-style numbers and a choice of several colours, including the duck egg blue above.
