Typewriter ceramic vase by House Doctor DK

Typewriter vase
Vintage typewriters are having something of a style moment. I've lost track of the amount of objects they've cropped up on recently, from brooches and earrings to cushions and bags. The latest to use their good looks is this Typewriter ceramic vase by House Doctor DK

The vase is made from white ceramic and is decorated with a simple black motif of a typewriter, and a string of type coming out of the machine. Like this? There's also a vase available featuring another fashionable motif of the moment – the bicycle.

The vase costs £22.50.

1950s-style Amelia chair from Next

Amelia
A contemporary chair that's available on the high street but this Amelia Chair from Next definitely looks to the past for its influence.

The curvy back of the chair, padded seat and gently splayed feet give this chair something of a feminine 1950s look. You can choose between dark or light wood for its feet and from a wide range of upholstery fabric. Select the zebra print for a bold statement, or go with some of the more delicate patterns for a prettier feel.

Prices range from £225 to £275, depending on your choice of finishes.

eBay watch: Philips 423 folding record player and Philips 210 portable record player

Phil1

Regular readers will know that we love a vintage record player, so here's not one, but two players from the same seller – the Philips 423 folding record player and the Philips 210 portable record player, both of which are  on eBay right now.

The first of these is pictured above, the 1970s 423, which packs away into a stylish little case, but opens out to play with batteries or mains, with 33/45/79 speeds, volume and tone controls plus the speaker in the case. Condition is described as 'used but very good' and the price right now is £8.50.

You can see the full item details right here or check out another player below.

eBay watch: 1960s Artifort swivel chair

Artifort

Interesting item, although I'm not exactly sure of the model of Artifort swivel chair here.

According to the seller, this is the F978 chair, designed by Geoffrey Harcourt in 1968 and pictured here. I'm not convinced, but it's definitely of the era and branded Artifort on the rear of the base, so it's certainly a period item of quality.

Not perfect, with some pulled threads and the odd paint chip on the base (see description for close-up shots), but at £300, it's a lot cheaper than picking up a new vintage Artifort chair.

My Egg and Soldiers

Myeggandsoldiers
My Egg and Soldiers set by Takae Mizutani and Sons is a product inspired by that childhood favourite of egg and toast soldiers.

The egg cup is shaped like a castle, but where this set is truly unique is that the toast gets its own container too – a horse-shaped cup, so they can look like toy soldiers going into battle.

The Egg and Soldiers set is available in either white or natural and costs £22.85 from Brighton Pod.

Crosley CR92 Country Kitchen Phone

31VP8-10XnL__SL500_AA300_
The Crosley CR92 Country Kitchen Phone is a reproduction of an early American phone from the early 1920s.

It features a turning crank handle, a handcrafted wood and veneer cabinet and a storage compartment. Where it differs from the original design, is that what looks like a traditional rotary dial, is actually push buttons.

It is available to buy from Amazon, priced just over $63.
