So if you want this 50s-style gem, complete with those diagonal legs (in a choice of finishes), those lovely curves for both the back and arms and a fabric finish in what seems like an almost-endless choice of cloths, head over the the Laura Ashley site to get a closer look.

Full price is £800, but right now it retails for £600. see over the page for the footstool too – that's also discounted, this time to £225.

For sale: 1970s modernist six-bedroomed house on Lakeside Drive, Esher, Surrey

Esher1

It might be out of reach financially for most of us, but this six-bedroomed house on Lakeside Drive, Esher, Surrey is well worth a look for its cool modernist architecture.

It was designed back in 1975  by renowned architect Royston Summers, not just in a sought-after location, but also built on the side of a lake, one of a group of 16 houses sharing this location. A location that's subject to preservation orders for both the lake and trees, as well as being a private road.

For sale: 1950s Erno Goldfinger-designed Wellesley House property in Broadstairs, Kent

Erno1

We usually feature huge art deco, midcentury or modernist architectural masterpieces on these pages, great to look at, but pretty much always unaffordable to all of us. Well, here is a semi-detached house that's firmly in the 'affordable' bracket for more of us – but it's also an Erno Goldfinger-designed Wellesley House property in Broadstairs, Kent.

In truth, the designer and the history of the house are actually more interesting than the property, but just think…you can tell the world your home was designed by a modernist legend. How cool would that be?

Prince Charles’ 1979 Range Rover Classic up for sale

Land1

For those who though we couldn't top the Queen Mother mini bus, well, we just might have with a 1979 Range Rover Classic, originally owned by Prince Charles in his bachelor days.

According to the seller, this is a 'lovely and now sought after' early model, but just as significantly, it was supplied new to the Royal Mews in Buckingham Palace for the exclusive use of HRH Prince Charles. Indeed, he got it for his 21st birthday. Not just any old early model either, some unique features (at the time) were also added.

Paris1
Our search for a super-cool property has taken us to the outer suburbs of Paris, specifically to this 1960s modernist house in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, near Paris.

No mention of the architect, but we suspect this was cutting edge design for someone affluent and forward-thinking back in 1969. Indeed, fast forward 42 years and it's still cutting edge. A testament to someone's vision 'back in the day'.

For sale: 1970-designed four-floor house in Antrim Grove, Belsize Park, London

70s1

I've got this dream that one day, when I have some more money to my name, I'll go house hunting and find a house with an interior straight out of Terence Conran's The House book ('70s version) – just stuck in time, with all the furnishings of the era intact. I might have found that house online, with this 1970-designed four-floor house in Antrim Grove, Belsize Park, London

From the outside, you can tell it's a bit quirky and very much of its era, the kind of place you'd imagine featuring in a 70s cult TV series. Inside, it's even more so, with some great examples of period furnishings.
