Vintage Textile Patterns from Vitrine

Vintage textile patterns
If you're a lover of pattern and colour, you're sure to find something you like from the selection of vintage textile patterns available from Vitrine.

The owner of Vitrine, Blaine Dessent-Owner, came across a collection of drawings, paintings and collages belonging to a textile company in Lyon that went out of business in the late 80s. Each piece was made by hand and depicts a different textile design once produced by the company and includes everything for all design tastes ranging from bold geometrics to pretty florals.

The prices for the pieces range from $85 to $90.

1950s fabric designs reissued at V&A website

Daisy fabric

What with the Prey tins featured early today, or the Zara Home Pina design we featured yesterday, it's clear that Fifties fabric designs are still as popular as ever. You can grab another piece of the look with these 1950s fabrics designs that have been reissued by the V&A

Available exclusively online or through mail order, the printed cottons are adapted from designs made for Horrockses Fashions. We've previously featured some of the V&A's Horrockses-inspired products and these designs share that colourful, floral look. Daisy pictured above is also available in a pink colourway, while there are two further designs which use stripes with the flowers.

If you want to delve a bit further back in time, they are also selling original fabrics inspired by the textiles in the V&A's quilts collection, which we also featured earlier this year

A metre of the 1950s-style cotton costs £8.50 while prices for the other designs vary.

Olive Lucky Clover cushion by Maria Hatling

Olive lucky clover cushion
This Olive Lucky Clover cushion looks like a vintage fabric but in fact it's a contemporary design, just one from the collection of designer Maria Hatling.

Maria used to work as an in-house designer for Orla Kiely and you can see the same use of great retro patterns in her work, offering different colourways across her designs – this cushion is also available in pink for example. And it's not just cushions as you can also purchase prints and tea towels featuring her designs, all well worth an investigation.

Made from a cotton and linen mix, the cushion costs £55.

The apron is topped off with a piped heart pocket on its front. Like this print? You can also get it on seat pads, oven gloves or tea cosies.

The half apron pictured costs £14 or you can get a full apron for £16.50.
