V&A’s limited edition t-shirt range

Va_pencils
London’s V&A has what is describes as a ‘unique’ archive of 19th and 20th century design and artwork. And rather than leave it hidden away, the museum is releasing interesting and prominent examples as t-shirts in strictly limited numbers.

The one pictured here is Pencils by Joseph Scorsone, dating back to the ‘mid 20th century’ (so we can guess 1950s or 60s), printed onto a slim-fitting 100 per cent cotton t-shirt and limited to just 150 units.

You can pick it up for £25.

Retro hats and headgear from Chapeau Claudette

Image1xl

Looking for a little touch of vintage glamour, without the shop trawling and probable price tag? Then look no further than Chapeau Claudette.

Available at ASOS, the brand makes a selection of fabulous vintage inspired hats and net veils which are perfect for pitching up the glamour stakes, creating a air of the Hollywood starlet.

My favourite, the Mini Heart Clip (pictured) retails at a fantastic price of £18 and looks great.

Vintage inspired S’Nob Polka Dress

53c923olil

Another pretty retro dress, because you just can’t have too many. This one’s from S’Nob at Oli.

The dress is a really pretty polka dot number, with a shape clearly inspired by the forties.

They’ve taken this basic style past the ordinary with a great layered chiffon-esque material, and the very art deco satin detailing on the bust.

A very sweet dress perfect for jiving the night away at a pretty reasonable £60. Not bad for a dress that’ll never go out of style.

Orla Kiely retro Multicoloured bag range at Jem Boutique

Orla_kielyWe’re big fans of Orla Kiely on Retro To Go, she’s got a fantastic eye for retro prints and styles across all her design ranges.

As soon as I saw these purses and the matching shoulder bag I fell in love. The print is great, spot on retro style and the idea of matching the accessories is a great one.

This range is available now from Jem Boutique, a site which carries lots of great retro clothing and accessories. The bag retails at £110.

New retro lines available at Warehouse

Warehouse

More retro inspiration on the high street for your delectation, this time courtesy of Warehouse. Two lines, called quite simply Retro Chic and 70s Chic, feature great staple items and a few special pieces too.

Mainly focusing on silhouette pieces, like 50s-style pencil skirts, there’s plenty of lovely stuff, if nothing particularly inspired. Among all that there’s a couple of print tops that are standard, though pretty, retro fare from our high streets.

Paul Frank Brea coat for Spring/Summer

7768584890d

Another very lovely Spring coat for you all to pore over, this time the retro edged number is from Paul Frank, and it’s pretty darn cute if a little impractical.

The Brea coat is a bit of an oddity due to its short sleeves, but maybe that could be a plus. The big buttons on the double breasted cut and the A-line make this a pretty safe take on most 60s ladies coats – whether or not the plaid is at odds with the rest of the design is up to you.

It’s also available in navy check and plain black, all at $61.95 from Zappos online.
