Mitre Rush – retro-styled running shoes

Mitre

Not heard the name Mitre for a long time – perhaps because most of its business comes from the mundane world of balls and accessories these days. But it has sneaked out a retro footwear range of late – the Mitre Rush.

We’re back in the 1980s here, that nylon top, suede detailing and cushioned rubber sole – well, it is a running shoe of sorts. There’s an endless number of colour combinations to choose from too, including the two pictured here.

Priced are very 1980s too – a pair will cost you just under £30.

Retro hosiery and legwear from My Tights

3379

I’m a firm believer in the fact that accessories can make an outfit, and tights and socks are a fabulously quick route to retro.

Knee socks, like those pictured, aren’t for the faint of heart but if you’re lucky enough to look anything like Jane Birkin in a Serge Gainsbourg video then you can’t do without them.

My Tights carries a great range of tights and hosiery from white woolens to stockings, whether you’re looking for a ’60s mod style or something cheeky and burlesque. Perfect solutions for all year round.

Batman and Batgirl t-shirts from Urban Outfitters

Batman_batgirl

Everyone has Batman nostalgia, don’t they? Whether it’s the comics, the films or the superb series featuring Adam West, the Batman logo is instantly recognisable and very cool.

Urban Outfitters often carry retro styled graphic tees, and they’ve added these Batman and Batgirl versions to their collection. They’re £28 each, which is no bargain, but they’re well made and a good fit for your money.

Hemline Stationery set from Fred Flare

565_829

Due to my adoration of vintage fashions, I could easily spend my days poring through pages of those old dressmaking patterns.

Seen as something of a kitsch art form these days, Fred Flare have cleverly rumbled a gorgeous little writing set featuring some vintage inspired designs.

The Hemline Stationery set retails at just $9.95, and it’s going straight on my personal wishlist.

Vintage and retro silk scarves by Hermès

Lamarineenbois02Hermès are a company well known amongst fashion devotees and have been a stalwart of Parisian fashion since 1837.

They have become most famous, to me at least, for their original silk scarves which could easily double as wall art. Designer Silk Scarves have a great collection of original vintage, modern styles with retro looks and some re-issues of classic Hermès scarves.

This 1957 ‘La Marine en Bois’ design by Hugo Grygkar is selling now for £160.
