Love Hearts jewellery – based on vintage sweets

Lovehearts
Remember Love Hearts? It was/is a classic kids sweet that offered up a lovey dovey message that was even more sickly sweet than the sweet itself. You can still get them – and you can also get Love Hearts jewellery based on the sweet’s design.

Pictured to your right is just one example, a classic silver pendant with 18-inch chain and the message ‘I Love You’. Alternatively, you can get a silver and enamel pendant, smaller-sized pendants, cufflinks or a simple ‘token’.

Prices start at £24.99 and if you’re quick, you can order one for Valentine’s Day – cut off point for ordering is 12 noon on Wednesday 13th February.

Diane von Furstenberg Mondrian dress

FrDiane von Furstenberg began making her way on the fashion scene in the 1970s, and was lucky enough to be a teen in the sixties, so it’s hardly surprising to see inspiration from her formative years in her designs.

Almost every piece in her recent collections has some retro flourishes. This Mondrian dress is clearly one of her more directly vintage inspired numbers. Perfect for any beat girl looking for a slightly modern take on classic mod-ish looks.

You’ll have to wait until payday to consider this one though, since designer labels don’t come cheap at £287.

Joy Division T-Shirt

JoydivisionteeThe Ian Curtis/Joy Division film Control is released on DVD next week and with impeccable timing, Urban Outfitters are selling this Joy Division Tee, which features the instantly recognisable Peter Saville artwork from the Unknown Pleasures album.

Pictured here is the ladies version, a marl grey t-shirt with the cover of Unknown Pleasures printed in black. For men, there are larger sizes available in a black t-shirt with a contrasting purple print.

Both versions cost £30 and can be bought online from the Urban Outfitters website.

Vintage print pussybow blouse from Fairground

Image1xlAs we gladly leave the Winter months behind the shops are giving us a taste of Spring in their new lines.

A pretty blouse is a great way to bridge the seasons, and one with a vintage print is, of course, even better.

This shirt from Fairground at ASOS features a mishmash of retro influence, with the pussybow looking distinctly 40s/50s and the pattern seemingly referencing a more 70s look.

Vintage 1950s dresses from Devoted 2 Vintage

01110Since the surge of retro clothing on our highstreets, the designs have branched out a little from the swathes of ’60s shift dresses.

The flavour of the month seems to be the ’40s-inspired tea dress, but for my money there’s nothing like the girlish glamour of the fifties for dressing up. This day dress from Devoted 2 Vintage‘s impressive collective is a really sweet example.

At just £38, you can steer clear of the fashion clichés with bags of style.

Vintage winter boots and more from Candy Says

S1690I’ve been griping all year about how difficult it is to find a pair of boots on the high street that doesn’t look like an ’80s nightmare. On my endless trawl for a pair of well made, plain leather boots it fell typically to vintage finds to fill the gap.

Candy Says has a number of pairs of ace ’70s vintage boots. In leather, and generally left for craftsmanship to show off, instead of trinkets and slouch details, they’re endlessly versatile.

This pair of brown leather heeled boots are retailing at a very reasonable £48. The online shop also sells a variety of vintage clothes at affordable prices.
