Russell & Bromley Baby-Face shoes

Babyfaceshoe We like a nice pair of shoes here at Retro To Go, and these Baby-Face shoes from Russell & Bromley have really caught my eye.

They look great, and would go well with the Oasis dress we have featured this week. In black patent leather, with chunky sliver chain trim, and small dainty heal they have a classic style.

If you don’t like the patent leather, they also come in natural leather and brown suede, so are suitable for all occasions. At £125 they aren’t that cheap, but Russell & Bromley are quality, and they also have a great January sale!

Oasis 60s dogtooth print dress

60sdogtooth We all need something to wear for Christmas day, or something a bit more casual for informal parties this festive season, and this 60s dogtooth print dress from Oasis could be just the thing.

Made from 70% lambswool, 20% angora and 10% polymide it should keep out the winter chill, but still help to give you some 60s style. In two tone grey it is understated, but still elegant and easy to wear.

At £55 it won’t break the bank, but if you have already spent up on all those Christmas presents, it may be one to grab in the sales.

Ivy Illustrated – the Ivy League look

Ivyillustrated

Recently picked up on a spending spree on Amazon Japan were these superb Ivy Illustrated books. All the text is in Japanese, so much so that I don’t even know the name of the author/illustrator – though the ageing gentleman does look very cool on the inside sleeve in Harrington, button-down shirt and jeans.

Don’t worry about the language, the books are all about the images. All hand-drawn, they cover every conceivable detail (as Japanese books tend to do), from outfits, accessories and luggage through to food, plants and even famous wearers of the Ivy League style – all using the same drawing style as the front cover.

Really nice things to own – they retail for around 1680 Yen each – that’s around £7.30.

Hot and Flashy shopping bag

Hotandflashyshopper
If you crave a bit of Art Deco glamour in your life, you couldn’t go too far wrong with this shopping bag from Hot and Flashy – ideal for carrying all your shopping purchases at this time of the year.

In hot pink, it combines Art Deco elegance with sturdy vinyl to make it practical and good looking. If only we could all be as elegant as the woman pictured getting out of her streamlined car.

The bag is 15.75" x 15.35" x 5.9" and is an absolute bargain at £7.95, so an ideal gift for the woman who likes to shop with style, it’s a whole lot more glamourous than carrying a supermarket shopping bag.

You can order one online from the Pulp Shop.

Karhu Originals Olympic trainers

Karhu_olympic
We’ve featured Karhu previously – it’s a small Finnish company taking advantage of its sportswear legacy by reintroducing classic designs under the Karhu Originals banner.

We previously highlighted the Karhu Field shoes, but if you’re after something more stripped down, check out the Karhu Originals Olympic trainers. These low trainers are available in leather or suede and in a range of colours. They’re so named because they were part of the Olympic uniform for the Finnish team in 1972 – but as they looked so good, the company decided to mass produce them.

They retail for around £70 – the Karhu site has a list of places where you can buy them. If there isn’t a place in your country, email [email protected] to buy online.
