We might think of the the mobile phone as a fairly recent innovation, but the 1970s Telephone Bag was doing first and with much more style.

Yes, the Telephone Bag. This is a working telephone, built into a handbag. And an incredibly ’70s bag it is is too, in shiny red or black vinyl with a long shoulder strap.

On the technical side, it has a receiver, buttons for dialling and connectivity to plug into a phone socket. So it is a working phone on the go, even if you do need a landline socket to actually make a call.

Amazingly, you can still pick one up online, priced at $295, which is around £150 at the current (telephone) exchange rate.
