Arne clausen bowl

The pattern on this Arne Clausen Lotus Bowl from Lagom probably looks very familiar. Well, you are probably right, but the story is a bit more complicated than that…

You're probably thinking of the pattern most associated with the Norwegian Cathrineholm factory, on their enamel kitchenware, and is still highly sought after. That pattern was created by Arne Clausen when working at the factory. The lotus pattern was subsequently used all over the place, including on porcelain from the Danish Lyngby factory and on Deka plastic bowls in the USA.

Clausen is now getting some acknowledgement for coming up with such a famous bit of design, and his family have given permission for some new items to be issued with the lotus design. Which brings us back to this bowl. One of the reissues, it's a ceramic number measuring 120mm in diameter. Shown in the coral colour scheme, it's also available in navy and mint to give it a fresh look worthy of the twenty-first century.

The bowls are £17.50 each from Lagom.
