If it's the run-up Christmas, it must be time for a viewing of Frank Capra's 1946 classic It's A Wonderful Life. This year it's even easier, with a massive screening programme all over the UK, with screenings at Irish cinemas too.

The festive favourite (as you might already know) stars James Stewart as George Bailey, the man who wishes he had never been born. Of course, once he sees the world without his own touch on it, he soon realises just how much good he has done over the course of his life. Tears at the end guaranteed.

The movie is back with the widest cinema release since the film was first shown back in the 1940s, showing at independent cinemas and across the Cineworld chain too. If you want to see if it's on down the road from you, check the Park Circus website for a list of all screening locations and dates.

If for some reason it hasn't made it to your town, you can always buy a copy on DVD and Blu-ray, with Amazon.co.uk having both. But if you can, try for that big screen – it really is something special at the cinema.
