If you happen to be a fan (or were a fan) of the early 1980s console classic. then you might well be the target market for the new Super Mario Bros Classic Monopoly board game.

Yes, this is Monopoly with an 8-bit twist. That pretty much sums it all up. Play as 8-bit Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, Super Mushroom, or 1-Up Mushroom, and conquer the kingdom before your opponents can. You will be using custom 8-bit goal posts and castles instrad of traditional houses and hotels, with plenty of other references from the console stars dotted in there too, not least Community Chest and Chance Cards renamed ‘? Block’ and ‘Warp Pipe’ for example. But outside of that, this is the same ’round London buying everything up’ experience. But more fun.

Hard to secure one right now, especially in the UK, but you can get one via ThinkGeek in the US, which ships worldwide. $44.99 is the price of the set.

  1. What a load of rubbish.. monopoly is a rubbish game, which isn’t even ranked in the top 10,000 boardgames. I really wish that companies like Nintendo would quit flogging a dead horse and actually do rethemes of games that are actually good.
