Yes, they are back. The hugely popular retro Reka DAB radios at Aldi are available once more, but they will sell out.
When I said hugely popular, I really do mean it as well. When I compiled the A Year In Retro: The 20 most popular posts of 2018 on Retro To Go, these radios made it to position number two. They were insanely popular and for good reason.
Like the equally popular Bauhn Dansette-style record player with legs at Aldi, it managed to get the look of a classic and bring the price down to a fraction of that item. That same formula is still at work here with the second drop of Reka radios.
It looks like a vintage radio and more significantly, it has the look of something like the Roberts Revival Mini DAB/FM digital radio, which is available for well above the £100 mark.
The Aldi version hints at the same design, but comes in for less than a quarter of the price. For that money, you get to choose from four retro shades (the hearts and flowers patterns haven’t returned this time out) and all the functionality you would need from a compact radio.
That includes DAB and FM reception, 20 preset stations, Bluetooth connectivity, LCD display, radio and buzz alarm with snooze control and auto-time synchronisation. Mains or batteries for the power, with the mains adapter included, of course.
As I said, you really need to move if you want one of these as they always sell out quickly and they haven’t returned to the store for a year. You can order one online or you can take your chances in your local Aldi store from 14th February.
The price? You can pick up this retro DAB radio for a very affordable £29.99. You will struggle to find something looking as good for anywhere near this price elsewhere.
