Metroland print by Blue Print x Donald Short

Metroland

Though perhaps not the most fashionable subject matter, Metroland is celebrated in this blue print by Donald Short.

Used to refer to the suburban areas to the north west of London served by the Metropolitan railway, the detached house used as a repeat in a print is typical of the housing built in such Metroland areas – often criticised for being too similar to each other and, well, a bit boring.

It's livened up a bit here by using the cyanotype process that was commonly used to reproduce architectural plans or, in other words, the blueprint.

A signed edition of 100, each print costs £30.

Cover Version art exhibition in Sheffield

Serge

We have featured Pete McKee many times in the past for his art, but you might not know that he also has a gallery in Sheffield called A Month of Sundays. It's where you'll find a new, multi-artist exhibition going by the name of Cover Version.

Several figures from the music, art and graphic design worlds have already signed up to participate, everyone from Richard Hawley and Marc Riley through to designer Sir Paul Smith and of course, McKee himself creating their own take on classic album sleeves. In case you're wondering, the image above is from the exhibition, Serge Gainsbourg's Melody by Lord Dunsby.

You'll find it at A Month of Sundays, 365 Sharrow Vale Road, Sheffield, S11 8ZG from Friday September 11th through to 14th October 2010.

Double Decker Routemaster Print

181732_london+bus2_2
The Double Decker Routemaster Print from I Love Design celebrated the most iconic of all buses.

Rather than being drawn in the traditional red, the buses are all decorated in a choice of traditional British patterns. Yes, that does mean the Union Jack, but also two patterns that celebrate London with illustrations of phone boxes and landmarks and one decorated with a “bus and soldier” pattern. The history of the Routemaster is written at the bottom of the print.

The posters are sold unframed and cost £20 for the A3 size or £30 for the A2 size. Buy online from I Love Design’s shop on Not on the High Street.

Love sculpture by Robert Indiana

Indiana

A pop art icon as a piece of wall art, Love by Robert Indiana is now available as a sculpture.

Originally produced between 1964 and 1966 as everything from paintings and posters through to Christmas cards and rings, it was later remade as a 12ft steel sculpture, which you'll find in the Indianapolis Museum of Art. This is a replica of that sculpture.

This tabletop design, approved by the artist, is available in the red above, as well as blue, pink, green and silver, all standing around 7.6cm high and wide. You can get one for £65.

Modesty Blaise laptop case by ChiLidog Design

Modesty1

You might recall the very cool Modesty Blaise suitcases we featured earlier this year. Well, there's now a matching piece for your portable PC – the Modesty Blaise laptop case by ChiLidog Design.

Like the cases, the laptop bag is inspired by artwork from cult 1960s comic strip Modesty Blaise, the work of Peter O'Donnell, although it was illustrated by Jim Holdaway. I say 'inspired' because the signature actually says 'Romero', which is more than a little confusing. Anyway, the retro-styled artwork is front and back, as well forming the design of the lining.

Choose from two sizes of bag, both made of highly durable neoprene to keep your computer safe. It's priced from £33.48. See over the page for the reverse image.
