Leica M7 Hermes Edition camera – just 200 available

M7_hermes

It's a thing of great beauty and arguably the most stylish retro camera on the planet – but the Leica M7 Hermes Edition camera is in seriously short supply, despite the ridiculously high price.

This limited edition of the classic 35mm rangefinder system camera is limited to just 100 units of each of the two colour combos – the orange above and a more laid back brown for the calfskin leather – each numbered for authenticity.

For the technical amongst you, if offers up a Leica SUMMILUX-M 35 mm f/1.4 ASPH. wide-angle lens, a matching classic round lens hood and a LEICAVIT M rapid winder, along with a real leather carrying strap matched to the colour of the camera and a linen-covered, silk-lined box. £8,850 is the price of this baby. If that's not scared you off, head on down to your local authorised Leica dealers and the Leica Store in Mayfair from December.

Mondrian-inspired Square tablecloths by Rouge du Rhin

Mondrian

We've featured many designs in the past inspired by Dutch abstract painter Piet Mondrian, in particular, using his coloured block artwork of the 1920s. Unfortunately, most if it (like the Cappellini Homage to Mondrian cabinets for example) have come with a restrictively high price. Not so these Mondrian-inspired Square tablecloths by Rouge du Rhin.

Offering up that distinctive design onto two sizes of tablecloth, the Square is a bold print onto a white 100 per cent linen cloth – perfect for impressing your art-loving friends or simply adding some colour to your home.

Prices start at the equivalent of just £16, with a similar cushion (pictured over the page), selling for around the £56 mark.

Analog Postcard Set

Analoguepostcards

Yellow Owl Workshop is a San Francisco based design outfit that makes delightful prints, cards and ceramics. The item that particularly catch my eye was this set of Analog Postcards.

Each of the four postcards features a different piece of equipment from the pre-digital days, namely a film camera, typewriter, cassette type and dial telephone. All of the image are screen printed by hand in black on white recycled card and are presented in a matchbook style cover with a pencil. The cards cost $10 per set with international shipping available for a further $9.50.

Isak “Inger & Olle” Print

P2ING_3

“Inger & Olle” is a new print from one of our old favourites, Isak.

In a similar style to Isak’s most famous design “Blossom & Bill”, this print features a rather hippie-like couple. They appear unabashed scantily clad. The story behind this one is that they are Isak’s grandparents, a couple of childhood sweethearts. I expect we will be seeing more of this pair on other products in the future, but here they appear on a 70cm by 50cm print on recycled board.

The print costs £30 and can be bought from the Isak website.

Winter Doves Print by Dee Beale

Dee

For lovely affordable artwork with a little hint of retro to it, take a peek at the Etsy shop of British printmaker Dee Beale.

Dee uses a simple colour palette to great effect with a beautiful illustration style that would be very easy to find a little space for on a wall. Each print is handmade so will be slightly different with its own unique character.

The Winter Doves print shown here is 256mm by 180mm and is priced at $25 unframed.

1970s ABC and Farm posters by Graziela

Graz1

A blast from the past, but the ABC and Farm posters by Graziela would still look very cool in a modern-day kids room.

They look similar, but these Graziela Preiser designs are from different ends of the decade – the ABC poster was originally designed in 1970, while the Farm poster was designed in 1977. Not that it means anything – the bold colours and look of each are unmistakably Graziela.

These reissues are official, screen printed with vegetable ink on 100% recycled paper, sized around 50 x 70cm (which fits a standard Ikea frame) and hand-signed by Graziela Preiser, making them something of a collector's piece. Not that they come with a high-end price – both sell for £22. See the other poster over the page.
