Pete McKee’s Manchester music prints

Manchester

We have featured Pete McKee previously, specifically his mod-inspired artwork. But now he's back with another retro-themed collection, based around the Manchester music scene.

The originals are currently hanging across Manchester's Odd, Odder and Oddest bars from 8th October till 14th January, but you can get one for your wall by bagging one of the prints. Printed on high quality art paper, there is a limited edition run of only 10 per image, each signed, numbered and with the story and the title hand written underneath by the artist for £150 unframed or £200 framed. If that's a bit rich, open edition prints start at £30.

There's some real gems to choose from too, everyone and everything from Mike Pickering's record box and a bedroom fan through to Peter Hook, Shaun Ryder and of course, Mark E. Smith. But we're featuring When Johnny met Steven – the moment when Johnny Marr called round at Morrissey's house to discuss forming what became The Smiths. Get this and the others while you can.

Olympus E-P2 camera launches – update of retro-styled E-P1

Olympus_ep2

We got pretty excited over the arrival of the Olympus E-P1 – that mix of retro-styled looks and modern-day Micro Four Thirds being a heady mix for the semi-pro photographer. But just months after the original launched, there's an update – the Olympus E-P2 camera.

It irons out a few niggles with the first model and adds a few new bits and pieces. Still a Micro Four Thirds (all the functionality of a digital SLR, but none of the bulk), the new model adds a port for an electronic viewfinder or (should you need one) external microphones, a couple of art filters, an i-Enhance function to improve your finished snaps and the ability to record 7 minutes of AVI format movies in 30fps at HD (1280x720p) resolution.

“please, please, please” Smiths Quote Cross-Stitch by Kimberly Scola

IMG_0679.JPG

Kimberly Scola provides proof that cross-stitch isn't always twee with her tributes to the Smiths, though I bet Morrissey never thought his song lyrics would be immortalised in embroidery thread. The artwork shown here is also a perfect pre-Chrismas mantra!

The piece is framed within an embroidery hoop painted glossy black and made to order with choice of black or white stitching.

The art-work shown is priced at $56.00 and available from Kimberly's website Chez Sucre Chez.

‘Don’t Kill Our Wild Life’ Fine Art Print from Aqua Velvet

Il_fullxfull.96672728

This print from Aqua Velvet is produced from an orignal created during the 1930's – 1940's. It was part of a series commissioned under President Roosevelt's 'New Deal' initiative used to publicize a wide range of cultural, travel and educational programs.

This print has been reproduced from an original scan and printed on an archive paper to do the graphic justice. It is a modest size at 8" by 10" but a modest $12 too.

Check out the Etsy site to see the rest of the collection.
