Cassia Beck ice cream print

For a nostalgic image of holiday making, how about this beautiful 8 x 8 ice cream print by Cassia Beck? The original photograph was taken using an old camera to introduce the dust and scratches and this, combined with the saturated colour, makes it look like it could have been taken any time over the last 50 years. If you like the gently old fashioned look of this print it's worth exploring some of Beck's other work which features flowers and toys, as well as more seaside related images.

This image costs £28 and is also available as a 5 x 5 print if requested.

Pop

First appearing last year, the Sir Peter Blake Pop t-shirts are back with the sun at Ink'd – and this time you can pick up a signed limited edition.

That version will set you back a very affordable £39 – or you can opt for the more practical unsigned version, which retails for £29. Both are sold in a Blake-themed gift box.

Unordinary People: PYMCA exhibit at Royal Albert Hall

Pymcacrop

Unordinary People is the intriguing title of an exhibition of PYMCA material taking place at the Royal Albert Hall from 21 April to 24 May. PYMCA stands for Photographic Youth Music Culture Archive and the display will use some of their images and footage to look at youth culture from the sixties to the present day. The display is taking place in the ground floor corridor of the Hall and so isn't likely to be extensive. However PYMCA has so much rich material that even a very few carefully selected images would still make for fascinating viewing.

The exhibition launches with a special night on 23 April when renowned sub-cultural style expert Ted Polhemus will be giving a talk. Tickets for this evening cost £6.50, including a glass of wine. Otherwise, you'll be able to see it if you happen to be attending an event at the Royal Albert Hall, or it's free to drop-in on Friday 15 May, Saturday 16 May, Sunday 17 May and Saturday 23 May (check the website for times).

Bily Liar House print by Jonathan Wilkinson

Billy-liar-house

You may have seen the work of Jonathan Wilkinson previously when we featured his Gateshead 'Get Carter' car park print. This new print, The Billy Liar House, features another northern suburban icon – the house made famous in the classic 1963 film Billy Liar.

The house looks the same now as it did in the film, and can be found overlooking Shipley and a post-industrial landscape in Baildon on the outskirts of Bradford. ‘Hill Crest’ (as it is named in the film) sits atop a hill and is an inseparable backdrop for many of the film's key scenes.

The litho print is sized at 40 x 30.5cm, and is a bargain £20 including free postage and packaging. It is must for any fan of the film or fan of Jonathan Wilkinson.
