A USB hub isn’t the most exciting of things, but the Cassette tape USB hub does liven up a fairly everyday office item.
If you need extra connectivity for your computer, just plug this in and you get an extra four USB ports to use. And you get the old school looks that are certain to impress your office buddies. Just don’t use it in your cassette deck – it’s likely to break it.
Tommie Smith is primarily known for two things – breaking the 200m record in the Mexico Olympics and doing the famous ‘black power’ salute on the Olympics podium. And as a tribute to the man, Puma has launched the Tommie Smith Clyde trainers for the 40th anniversary.
The classic Clyde has a few new additions – an embossed gold medal heel, references to Olympic achievements on the tongue and a gold lining. The main shoe is in blue suede, but you can also pick up the shoe in a gold finish for a little more bling.
Sometimes a picture is enough. But I’m guessing you’ll want to know the technical details of the Commodore UMMD 8010/F netbook.
This budget-priced mini laptop was unveiled at a recent trade show, offering up a beige and brown colour combo and Commodore logo (inside and out) that screams the 1980s. And on a practical side, it has a 10-inch screen, 80GB hard drive, 1GB of memory, built-in Wi-Fi and optional Bluetooth.
We’ll keep you posted about availability, but we do already know the price – around £300. See the link below to a Norwegian site for more images.
Ok, everyone wants one, but no-one quite knows how. So we’ve dome some proper research on how to buy a Colombo Phone (and added that to the info kindly supplied by Andrew). Want to know what one is? Go here. Want one? Read on…
Where can I buy one? Only Selfridges initially – and not just London. We hassled Manchester today and they have stock arriving too. When is it available? The shelf date is scheduled for ‘mid-September’, so might be worth checking the shelves around that time (or ringing up).
Is it only available in orange? No – there’s now a white version on offer as well as the original orange. See the image above.
First design in 1971 for Georges Pompidou’s private apartment in the Élysée Palace, the Ligne Roset Pumpkin armchair range has now gone into mass production for the very first time.
It’s pure 70s space age, built around a fairly sold foam structure, with upholstery in a choice of bright period colours and a range that includes two settees, two armchairs and a footstool.
Obviously we’re not talking budget here, with an armchair priced around the £900 mark. Check instore for a full list of prices for the other items.
Last week we were down on writers, as two of us shot off for a week away in France. But ever the professionals, we bought a load of French design magazines, finding out about the forthcoming Salon du Vintage exhibition along the way.
Now in its second year, Salon du Vintage covers the pick of 1960s and 70s fashion, design and lifestyle items, all carefully scrutinised for period authenticity. This year the them is ‘orange’, so expect lots of plastic creations from the 60s or so exhibitors, along with a number of items available to buy at the auction – all of which will be listed in the soon-to-be-available catalogue.
