Graham and Green dove vases

G&G dove vase

Graham and Green are the latest high street retailer to start selling the folk trend with these dove vases from their Spring range.

Although they're a contemporary design, the vases definitely have got a vintage look. The use of such 70s-style motifs has been cropping up a lot recently, from Sanna Annukka's soul birds to Donna Wilson's bird nest plate, while the crackle green glaze adds to the impression that these might have been picked up in a charity shop, rather than online.

The vases come in two sizes and prices. The smaller vase is 31cm high and costs £36 and the larger is an extra 7cm tall and costs £48.

Stuyvesant-black-mantel300

If the clocks going forward have made you look at your timekeeping in a whole new light, maybe now is the time to invest in a new clock. Step forward the Stuyvesant mantel clock, one of the latest designs from Newgate.

We've featured many of Newgate's models over the years for their retro good looks and this one is no exception. With attractive curved edges, the clock is glass with either a black or red dial and mirrored markers. It measures 14.5cm across, making it even more likely to stand out on a mantelpiece.

The price is reasonable too, at £19.95

Tattoo cushions from Dwell

Dwell tattoo cushions

We've seen retro-style tattoos adorning everything from rugs to dish cloths, as well as the body, and it continues with these tattoo cushions from Dwell

Both cushions use typical tattoo motifs: one shows a pierced heart with a blank banner while the other is decorated with a classic rose dedicated to 'Mom'. The slightly annoying Americanism aside, these cushions are a subtler take on the trend with the illustrations marked out in simple red and black against the plain white of the cotton.

Each cushion costs £19.95.

1960s-style Dali swivel armchair at Furniture Village

Dali

A seat that's certainly worth a second look on the high street – this Dali swivel armchair at Furniture Village.

It's very much in the 'James Bond villain' style of 1960s-like seating, complete with chrome base and a hardwood frame that hosts the semi-aniline leather upholstery. The fixed cushions, elasticated webbed back support and 'sinuous springs' should keep you comfy as you spin too.

Don't worry if you're not keen on the 'aubergine' leather finish above, you can choose from a total of 10 shades of leather, including more traditional black and brown. But here's the good news – it's now heavily discounted, down from £899 to £599, which makes it a far more attractive option.

Artek 1960s TW001 table lamp by Tapio Wirkkala

Tw_lamp

The designer is perhaps better known for the classic Ultima Thule glassware, but we're equally impressed by this piece of 1960s lighting by Tapio Wirkkala – the Artek TW001 table lamp.

The sharp geometric shape is very much of the era, although it is intended to look like a candle, but should offer much more light than the humble flame from its HD-polyethylene, which is couple with a painted birch base.

That base is available in black or white, with both of the 38cm lights selling for 240 Euros.
