Treasury cushion

Treasury specialise in attractive cushions and prints that feature some of your favourite twentieth-century design icons.

The designs are the work of Lucia Golding and the image above showing the Hans Wegner Wishbone chair on the cushion is typical of her style: silhouettes of the objects are hand screen-printed against subtle shades of greens or blue.

The cushions cost £34 while the prints are about £30-35.

George Nelson 1950s Star clock for Vitra

Star

The George Nelson clock designs have inspired many other designers in the modern era, but like all great designs, the originals are always the best. Like this Vitra Star Clock.

Nelson designed the Star back in 1955, making it a remarkable 55 years old this year. Talk about timeless. For your money, you get those shooting arms for the hour markers, along with a contrast face and chunky hands, the whole thing made of lacquered wood and metal, with a high-grade quartz clockwork keeping things ticking over.

The diameter is around 610mm and the all-important price is just over £239.

Robin Day for John Lewis Polypropylene armchairs and side chairs

Jl1

I'm guessing you'd be quite tempted by a seating design classic on the high street from just £29 wouldn't you? Well, that's exactly what you can get with the Robin Day for John Lewis Polypropylene armchairs and side chairs.

These are classic Robin Day chairs, made for John Lewis and cheaper than the originals, although there's pretty much no difference to them. Take your pick from the 1967 Poly armchair (aka The Tub), the Poly side chair or the baby of the group – the Child's Chair.

All have that trademark high-grade polypropylene shell, a powder-coated metal frame and bright colour options to choose from. The Child's Chair is the cheapest at £29, the side chair is £39 and the Tube is £59. Affordable classics and useful too if those unexpected guests drop by. More images over the page.

Jonathan Adler 50s-style Marlowe sofa

Marlowe

You can always rely on Jonathan Adler to offer up a retro vibe with his home design – and the Marlowe sofa is certainly no exception.

The Marlowe has a name inspired by the late 50s – Jayne Mansfield's character, Rita Marlowe, in Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? from 1957, and a look not far from that era. That means a minimal design broken up by a 'wing' for the arms, a slightly tapered, button back and contrasting skinny legs.

$2,200 is the starting price, rising depending on your fabric choice.
