Robert Welch Hobart 1960s candlestick range reissued by Heals

Hobart

Not strictly a reissue, the Robert Welch Hobart candlestick is still available directly in black in cast iron, but Heals has reissued its own exclusive version of this 1960s gem.

Heals showcased the design back in 1967, even featuring it on the front cover of the 1967 Heals catalogue – and this reissue (part of the Heal's ReDiscovers range) uses the same moulds (so features the same imperfections as the originals), but does offer up a modern concession of colour – glossy red and white alongside a matt black.

Prices start at £35 from the Heals website or bag a more basic version from Robert Welch directly from £21.50.

Piet retro-styled indoor heater by Fredrik Hylten-Cavallius

Piet

Thinking of starting a fire in your house? Well don't – unless it happens to be in something as safe and stylish as the Piet retro-styled indoor heater by Fredrik Hylten-Cavallius, named after 60s architect Piet Hein.

Perfect for long winter nights, this egg-shaped heater is sat on those five wooden legs, complete with a brass reflector, ethanol burning (instead of wood), a layer of rock wool fire insulation and an outer ceramic shell.

The downside? Well, it doesn't look like this is in wide production as yet, which is a shame as we quite liked the idea of one for Christmas. Never mind – check with the designers to find out more about a retail date.

Dupenny ’50s Housewives wallpaper

Housewives-full

From Dupenny, the people who brought you the Burlesque wallpaper featured earlier in the year, comes this '50s housewives wallpaper. Much like the previous wallpaper, it's a cheeky look at the subject matter, which they say is inspired by the days of seamed stockings and suspenders. Certainly, ironing or hoovering have never looked so appealing!

It's hand screen-print and, also like the previous paper, it's a design over two panels – you need to order both to get the full design. Each panel costs £90.

Charley Harper needlepoint

Harper flamingo

Regular readers of the site will be aware that we are massive fans of Charley Harper's mid-century designs. Those who are gifted with a needle may be interested to hear that some of his best loved prints are available as needlepoint designs.

Treglowan design produce the hand painted canvases, it's then up to the embroiderer to select the threads to match and interpret the pattern. Pictured is Flamingo Row which costs $70, but the prices vary from $50 up to $350: definitely not one for beginners.
