Industrial-style Clip Light

Cliplight

I know very little about the history of the Clip Light, aside from it being French, industrial-looking and very eye-catching.

The clip is for fixing to a desk (or any surface), with the large retro-style bulb also holding the sheet metal shade, the bulb also acting as a ball joint for the shade.

If you’re going for a 1930s or modernist look, it’s a cheap addition to the home, retailing for £26.95 in either black or white.

Vitra’s George Nelson-designed Bench

Nelson_bench

Although the George Nelson Bench is just that, it’s also quite a versatile piece of furniture.

Nelson designed this in 1946, with the reissue over 60 years later by Vitra offering you some stylish seating for a garden (if you have a secure one) or conservatory, but also a cool mid-century coffee or occasional table should you need one.

It’s available in either natural or stained ash in two different sizes – and you can pick it up from £816.

Globus space age workstation for your home office

Globus

It’s 2008, yet we still persevere with a traditional desk and chair. Why not go futuristic (with a 1970s twist) with the Globus space age mobile workstation.

A new design by Michiel van der Kley for Artifort, the Globus offers a cool round chair for your comfort and a separate semi-circle for your desk – a surface area pulls out, leaving space for desktop essentials too. And when you’re through, it all fold up into a rather cool ball.

No news of a price on this – if you’re a serious buyer,, I’d suggest dropping the company a line.

Naoto Fukasawa Orange and Blue retro dinnerware sets

Driade

If you’re off into the great outdoors this summer, the Naoto Fukasawa Orange and Blue retro dinnerware sets will certainly make you one of the cooler campers.

A modern design by Naoto Fukasawa for Driade Kosmo, but one obviously influenced by the 1970s – right down to those colours. You buy the sets ‘per person’, with each one containing a malmine tray, plate, soup bowl, glass and cutlery.

And each one will set you back around £18.

Ligne Roset space age Neo armchair

Neo

Another chair to check out if you’re looking for that space age vibe in your home is the Ligne Roset Neo armchair.

It’s been in the store’s range for five years now – and for good reason. This Alban Gilles-designed seat is something of all-rounder, offering you the option of a seat with or without arms, rocker or fixed and with a matching footstool should you require one.

Go for the retro orange shade and ditch the arms for the coolest 70s-style armchair around. It should cost you around £885.
