Joe Colombo 1960s Superleggera armchair returns

Superleggera_2

Despite being well over 40 years old, there’s still something distinctly futuristic about the Superleggera armchair.

The work of Joe Colombo and dating back to 1964, the Superleggera has an oil-varnished walnut structure with padded cushions covered on a leather upholstery.

Take your pick of colours for this design classic (black, yellow, orange, ivory or red), with the chair retailing for a rather considerable £1,974.

Yngve Ekstrom 1955 Arka chair

Arka2

So simple, but at the same time so very stylish – the Arka chair from Yngve Ekstrom is certainly a lost gem from the 1950s.

Specifically, it dates back to 1955, with Yngve Ekstrom designing this low stick-back chair in solid birch. And now it’s back, with an identical re-issue produced by Stolab again in birch, either in black, white or a natural finish.

Prices start at £402.

Take A Line For A Walk armchair

Line

A modern piece with retro/vintage looks – the Take A Line For A Walk armchair.

Taking its name from the lines of stitching that curve around its form, the Alfredo Haberli-designed high-back, swivel chair is a seat for spending time with – and plenty of injection-moulded foam on the steel frame should make your time there very comfortable.

Not the cheapest chair you’ll ever buy at £2,995 (and that doesn’t include the stool), but a seat that will age gracefully over time.
