Circles pop art mirror

Circles It’s unusual to find a mirror that’s much more than functional, but this Circles pop art mirror is as much design as it is an everyday object.

If you’re confused about how it works, let me explain. Basically, this handmade mirror is set with a large black perspex frame within which is the large round glass mirror. Then, for purely design reasons, there’s two non-mirrored red circles down the side.

Sized at 75cm x 50cm, you can pick one up for £100.

Eco-friendly, 60s-styled round shelving

Rock_shelving I love this Rock’n’Roll shelving, which could have jumped straight out of the 60s. And even better – it’s eco-friendly.

Available in black, white or natural colours (which you can paint yourself), you simple attach the first couple of circles to the wall, then fix the others to them. You can make the units as big or as small as you like – just buy the number and size of units you like. And yes, they’re good for the environment, made in Sweden from high density paperboard, which is fully recyclable.

You get five rolls per pack, so you will need two packs to build the unit pictured here. And each pack costs £189.99.

Artemide Tolomeo Micro desk light

Tolomeo It’s over 20 years since Michele De Lucchi designed the Tolomeo Micro desk light for Artemide. But even today, you’ll struggle to find a desk lamp as small and stylish as this anywhere.

An 80s item, but inspired by pre-war European design, this is a classic adjustable tabletop lamp, which should fit easily onto your desk or bedside. And once there, it has a cantilevered arm and adjustable head to position the light exactly where you want it.

The kind of item that’s unlikely to ever drop out of fashion – and available for £110.

Ikea’s Karlstad retro armchair

Ikea_orange Looking at Ikea’s Karlstad retro armchair in the orange colour choice, you could be forgiven for thinking it was a design straight out of a late 60s home interiors catalogue.

It’s a large swivel armchair, very much in Bond villain territory, made from moulded, high-resilient polyurethane foam to create and maintain the rounded shape. It’s also adjustable via a lever under the seat and covered in a dirt-repellent wool fabric.

Designed by Henrik Preutz and also available in grey, you can pick one up in your local Ikea, priced at £245.

Warhol Banana Split dish

Warhol_bananasplit I’ve lost over how many items we’ve featured that are based around the Warhol banana – from bags to watches, we thought we’d covered them all. Then we discover the Warhol Banana Split dish.

Yes, a marriage made in heaven – cut up your real banana, then cover it in cream and anything else you see fit – all served in the perfect dish for the dessert-loving pop art lover.

You get two 10-inch x 2-inch bowls in the set, each with its own matching spoon and with a price tag of $11, which is around £5.50.

Keep’s bargain retro sunglasses

Keep_sunglasses

Let’s be honest, unless you’re spending a fortune on a designer brand, cheap sunglasses are pretty much just that – with the exception of these Keep retro sunglasses.

With a design that hints at the Ray-Ban, these sunglasses add a splash of colour to the arms and one essential ingredient for the drunken holidaymaker – they’re unbreakable.

And when we say cheap, we mean cheap. These retail online for $5, which works out at £2.50. So even if you did manage to break them, it’s not going to cost much for a replacement.
