Scream Rug

Screamrug

The Scream Rug has been designed by Calle Henzel for the Swedish company, a-carpet, who seem single-handedly intent on bring us more interesting floor coverings.

The Scream Rug features the black outline of a screaming woman, which looks to me to be based on the image of Janet Leigh in the infamous shower scene in Psycho. Although the image is potentially disturbing, like Hitchcock’s heroines, it still maintains a certain glamour.

The rug is made from 100% hand-tufted New Zealand wool and costs £2,428 from Funktion Alley.

Vintage Style Marquee Lights

15968209_00_b

Have you secretly always dreamed of seeing your name up in lights above a theatre? Then you may be interested in these vintage style Marquee Lights, which are an interesting twist on the fashion for vintage lettering.

They are being sold as individual letters so spelling out your whole name could take up a lot of room, not to mention cost a fair bit, but you could perhaps opt for you just your initials instead. Every letter of the alphabet is available as well as this ampersand sign and the rather more modern @ sign. They cost $178 each (around £120) and are supplied with bulbs.

Sadly only available online for delivery on the USA, but if you are over there (or have someone there to order it for you!), then visit the Urban Outfitters website to order.

Satellite Modern: mid-century style lighting and fittings

Corona Tri

Those who are passionate about their lighting may be interested in a new webstore called
Satellite Modern. It belongs to the people behind Rejuvenation, but whilst that
specialises in mostly pre-World War II styles, Satellite Modern is designed to
showcase 1950s and 1960s lighting and hardware.

Designs are based on objects they’ve sourced from the period. For example, the Corona Tri
model pictured is adapted from a 1959 model. They have a vast range to choose
from: this model alone can be customised with 120 different colour combinations
for the cylinder and canopy and an adjustable length. This all can be tried out
on screen before purchasing. This model costs $582 but there are many more models and price points to be considered on
their website.

Man Ray’s “Keeps London Going” Products

TFLAMR

From the same Underground collection as the water bottles featured earlier in the week, are a couple of products featuring Man Ray’s “Keeps London Going” design.

The striking design, featuring a planet and the London Transport logo, first featured on a poster for London Transport in 1938. It has been reproduced here on an apron (£20), teatowel (£10), notebooks (from £6) and mug (£10).

Visit the Blisshome website for further details on how to order these items.

Crown Wall Hooks

Crownhook

Continuing the trend for all things British, I’ve spotted several online retailers selling this Crown Wall Hook. It has a worn bronze finish to it, to give it a vintage look. It measures 35cm high by 28cm wide and can be used to hang a variety of things, although using it for towels seems to be the most common suggested use.

Cox and Cox will be selling these hooks from mid-June priced £12 each. Visit the Cox and Cox website to pre-order.
