Nothing screams springtime and celebrations quite like bunting. The Brits have used any excuse to adorn surfaces left, right & centre with bunting since the 17th century and the recent resurgence of vintage-style street parties has brought it back into the spotlight once again.

How apt then that Laura Ashley, one of the great stalwarts of British fashion, have chosen to adorn this cardigan with bunting embroidery, and just in time for 29th April. It's made of 100% cotton to guard against the cool evening air whilst staying firmly in the party spirit.

A frequent sight in British railway stations from the early 1920s, sharp & stylised posters advertised tourist hotspots accessible by rail, from the sunny climes of the Cornish coast all the way up to the remote Scottish Highlands, showing off the understated glamour of what's now become known as a 'staycation'. 

Artist Dave Thompson has captured the resurgence of the 'stay at home holiday' and taken inspiration from classic art deco railway posters to create these prints of iconic landmarks across the south coast, making a day trip to sunny Sussex as appealing as a weekend in Saint-Tropez (almost).

Very much inspired by pre-swinging sixties (by that, we mean the early years of the decade), this bold yellow number is perfect for spring and summer day days and nights, with detailing including a seam detail to the empire line, short sleeves, concealed side zip fastening and with Elastane in the cloth for a bit of extra comfort.

eBay watch: 1971 Ford Capri 3.0 GTXLR MK1

Not sure I'm all that keen on later models, but the earlier Ford Capris are very stylish cars – like this 1971 Ford Capri 3.0 GTXLR MK1, which is on eBay right now.

It's a low-mileage mode, with just 59,000 on the clock from five owners since new, with period black vinyl roof, 'rally red' colour scheme and what's described as a 'reasonable' interior, with new carpets and door cards fitted.

A few bits and pieces still need sorting out (see listing for details), but it seems to run fine and has 12 months MOT. Tax-exempt, as you might have guessed. Still a bit of time left – £2,050 is the current price.
