Bernie Dexter Rebel Knit Pullover Top

Bernie top

Bernie Dexter may be best known for her striking resemblance to Bettie Page, but her talents go far beyond the realms of imitation. The fashion lines she models for are all must-see rockabilly bits, but her own line stands up among the best.

This Rebel Knit Pullover Top is worth a look thanks to its rarity – finding cropped pullovers with genuine 50s looks can be a tall order. The leopard print treads the line well between tacky and effortless chic, while the loose shape and sleek collar lend a vintage authenticity.

Floral Print Blouse by Tucker

Tucker

While Autumn firmly digs its heels in where the weather's concerned, take solace in the resurfacing of a whole new wardrobe. Autumnal colour palettes go well with a side of sixties fashion that provides a sleek departure from the girlish Quant look.

This blouse by Tucker combines an old fashioned floral print with a subtle green shade for a more demure aesthetic. The silhouette is decidedly sixties with a belled 3/4 length sleeve and a collarless high neck shape. The resultant smock shape is cute and versatile.

Get it online from Matches Fashion for £238.

Present and Correct retro library notebooks

Library notebooks

If the arrival of September still makes you want to purchase new shoes, rucksacks and stationery, even though it's been a good many years since you ventured through a classroom door, you may be interested in these library notebooks from Present and Correct. However, these books are a lot more fun than anything you may have had at school. Each book is made to look like an old-school style text book, so the one with the science apparatus is printed with the title 'An Encyclopedia of Poisons' by R.C.Nick and the one with all the robots is entitled 'Basic Robotic Engineering', written by a lady called Anne Droid.

The books also come with a library pocket and ticket that you can stick at the front and would be handy for stashing away papers, or notes from your friends if you really want to relive your school days. Each notebook costs £6.50

Polish Posters 1945–89 at MoMA

29042

If you enjoyed the V&A’s Cold War exhibition last year, then MoMA’s Polish Posters 1945–89 should also be of interest to you.

During the Cold War, the state-controlled Polish Poster School produced striking designs that attracted international acclaim for their use of surreal imagery and bold design. The exhibition brings together a collection of posters that typify this style from the 1940s up to the 1980s. The exhibition runs until the end of November at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Further information can be found on the MoMa website.

Biba Chair

F9701c

The Biba Chair takes its name from the legendary fashion store, and as you would expect its design invokes a retro style like its namesake. T

he chair is a low armchair with a striking circular shape and a chrome base. It is upholstered in faux suede, which I’m not entirely convinced by, which is available in a choice of brown, red, duck egg blue, lime green or probably the best option, cream.

Funky Lifestyles is selling the Biba Chair for £545.
