Buy Atari’s history – for £75,000

Atari_sothebys It’s a retro gamer’s dream – but you’ll have to be a rich one to bid for Atari’s marketing archives, which are up for grabs at Sotheby’s in New York, with an estimate of around $150k – $200k. That between £75k and £100k.

For that huge outlay, you’ll get around 2,000 items of original material dating from 1981 – 1983 (when Atari was at its height, including manuscript memorandum, internal specification guidelines, original sketches, blue lines, mechanicals, proofs, colour separations (including acetates), and screen diagrams. The majority relates to games and consoles, but it does includes some early design and graphic work for game characters and components.

So in other words, everything you need to start your own vintage gaming empire. If you’re interested, you need to register with Sotheby’s. And perhaps have a lottery win before the auction date.

Jaeger men’s bomber jacket

Jaeger_jacket Jaeger has the odd interesting item in its range, particularly in the Jaeger London range. Like this Jaeger men’s bomber jacket.

It’s described as a 1950s-inspired blouson jacket. But to me, it’s a bomber jacket, although the pockets are the kind you probably associate with a harrington. Navy blue, with constrasting elasticated collar, cuffs and waist, it’s made of a mix of cotton and nylon.

The price is a bit hefty at £175 – maybe something to check out when the sales start – they usually discount significantly.

Keep’s bargain retro sunglasses

Keep_sunglasses

Let’s be honest, unless you’re spending a fortune on a designer brand, cheap sunglasses are pretty much just that – with the exception of these Keep retro sunglasses.

With a design that hints at the Ray-Ban, these sunglasses add a splash of colour to the arms and one essential ingredient for the drunken holidaymaker – they’re unbreakable.

And when we say cheap, we mean cheap. These retail online for $5, which works out at £2.50. So even if you did manage to break them, it’s not going to cost much for a replacement.
