Monique Dress by Heartbreaker Fashion

Moniquedress

To carry off a bold retro print, designers have to get the cut and shape of any piece just right for a true vintage feel. Heartbreaker Fashion rarely put a foot wrong, hitting the mark once more with this simple but stylish Monique Dress.

Shown here in their new print, aptly named Summer, they've plumped for a classic swing dress style that's ideal for the season. With a high neckline, sleeveless cut and subtle flaring at the skirt, the cute addition of a bow at the waist is made all the more effective by blending with the all-over print.

It's available now from Heartbreaker Fashion online for $90.

Fred Perry x Amy Winehouse autumn/winter 2011 collection goes on sale posthumously

Amy_winehouse

I'm sure there are mixed feelings about whether this should actually be going on sale so soon after Amy Winehouse's tragic death, but according to the company, 'with the blessing of Amy's family', the Fred Perry x Amy Winehouse autumn/winter 2011 collection has now gone on sale.

With the latest collection being launched so soon, we can presume it was already completed and ready to hit the shelves. With 'the usual royalties' from the collection being donated to the soon to be established Any Winehouse Foundation, I guess it does make sense to release it onto the market, rather than just sit in a storeroom, even if it does seem just a little soon for it.

Anyway, check out the images above and the full collection over at Fred Perry. For the record, the '50s-inspired items above are (on the left) the Amy Bowling Shirt, which sells for £70, the knitted silk skirt (£80) and the Amy Leather Waist Belt (£60). The images on the right features the Houndstooth Tie Neck Dress, one of the more expensive pieces at £150.

For sale: 1950s grade II-listed Highsett apartment in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire

High1

Plenty of new-build flats on the market, but none are a patch in this 1950s grade II-listed Highsett apartment in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.

This is one of 37 apartments that were built in the late 1950s, getting grade II status back in 1998. It's modernism of the era and still incredibly stylish and practical today. It's also quite conveniently located too, within walking distance of the city centre and the train station. That's if you need to be in Cambridge obviously.

eBay watch: 1950s midcentury-style mini sideboard

50s

It could probably be described in various ways, but we're naming it as a mini sideboard, which is up for auction now and still at a modest price.

A 1950s design with a midcentury look, this sideboard or cabinet open to offer up two shelves for storage within, those doors finished off with those contrasting period handles. Also worth noting are those angled legs and overhanging sides, with the veneer said to be 'birch or pear' (no, we don't get the latter either).

According to the seller, the sideboard is in 'very good original condition', with some scratches on the 'top plate' and 'small veneer damage' on top edge of one door (which isn't visible when the door is shut). Price is reasonable right now though, standing at £12.50.
