eBay watch: 1950s British Standard Motor Company Standard Eight car

A long title, but it does tell you what is up for auction right now, this Standard Eight car, which was built back in 1954 by the British Standard Motor Company and is still going strong today.

In fact, if you want a 1950s runaround to match your '50s looks, it could be ideal. The car was built in various shapes 1938 and 1959, this obviously being a later example. it was eventually replaced by the Triumph Herald, another gem that we've featured on various occasions.

Anyway, this car has an 803cc engine and has been used by the current owner for his/her daily commute on a daily basis. Coupled with its 12-month MOT, it's certainly a runner. Condition looks good too, judging by the photos. But best of, the price is in the right place too – £1,600 right now. Lots more shots of the car on the listing.

Twinkle Clock by Decoylab

Unlike the previous Decoylab clocks we've featured, the Twinkle Clock is a bit more grown up. With fashion's eternal love of recycling ideas and adding new twists, it should be no surprise that retrospective design is no new thing. The 1980s had a particular fondness for fifties styles, reinterpreting pieces with a unique eighties slant.

This Polka Dot Jacket from Warehouse is really reminiscent of an eighties reimagining of fifties style elements. The 50s polka dot print is used in a simple but structured blazer, with the rolled 3/4 sleeves and hip pockets helping to create that relaxed androgyny of eighties mainstream fashion.

The idea is simple, get a wooden box, stuff it with all the sweets from back in that particular day, stick on a label based around that decade and fire it off to your favoured sweet lover. Or eat them all yourself, you've paid after all.

eBay watch: 1958 Renault Dauphine car in original condition

At first glance, you might think this is one of the retro Nissan reissues like the Figaro or the Pao, but this is far older and out of France – the Renault Dauphine.

It dates back to 1958 and literally screams the era, not least because it looks largely unchanged since first hitting the road. It might well have been thrown back in time. Its amazing looks are perhaps down to it being dry stored in France for the last 30 years. Not just about the  looks either, with the floor and chassis in 'excellent condition' and the 947c engine in 'perfect mechanical order'. Apparently 'everything works', according to the seller.

Things to note are it being left-hand drive, a tear being present on the driver's seat and a need for a 'very light respray' due to some blemishes on the bodywork. Not bad for 53 years.
