eBay watch: Raleigh Chopper mk2 and mk3 bicycles

Chopper

If you want to relive your childhood and cruise the streets on an original Raleigh Chopper, you can do that quite easily with a few quid and a visit to eBay. Indeed, there's a large number of models and spare parts constantly for sale. But we'll be looking at Raleigh Chopper mk2 and mk3 models, both of which are for sale as part of the same lot.

The image shows off the subtle differences between the two – seat and handlebars most obviously, the mk 2 being the one you probably remember with most fondness. Like all original  Choppers, they are getting more sought-after by the year, so you don't get perfection unless you pay top price.

These two offer above average condition, but do need some work – a good polish, possible re-chroming of the mudguards, a small rip in one of the seats and the odd scratch. But nothing to make you run a mile. However, you might when you see the price – currently at £280. If that's a bit rich, check out those other auctions for something cheaper, but probably involving more restoration work.

eBay watch: Hillebrand 1970s desk lamp

Hillebrand

I don't know a great deal about this lamp and the seller isn't giving much away – but thankfully a picture can paint a thousand words when it comes to this Hillebrand desk lamp.

Described as being circa 1970, it actually has modernist undertones – very much about the form and function. In terms of specifics, a metal base mixes it with a chrome head and a flexible arm, offering light where you want it on your desk.

It's sold out of Germany and is up on a 'Buy It Now' for £99 or a best offer. If you can get it a little cheaper, the lamp could offer up a stylish bargain.

eBay watch: 1950s Dieter Rams-designed Braun PA 2 projector

Braun_proj

I make no apologies for picking out so much Dieter Rams from eBay – aside from it looking good, the designer's work has become more collectable year-on-year, which makes it a good investment if you can pick it up at the right price. The price of this Dieter Rams-designed Braun PA 2 projector for example.

Designed in 1957, it's an old school slide projector in grey with a touch of red and black, complete with case and original Braun slide cases. You might have seen it in the MoMA or indeed, the recent Dieter Rams exhibition in London – one similar has been on display in both places.

It's working and described as being in 'excellent cosmetic state', which makes the 99 pence price tag a steal. Still some days left though, but definitely one to watch.
