Modernist-style London table lamp by Original BTC

London

We're big fans of Original BTC and here's a new design from the company – the London table lamp.

It obviously takes modernist inspiration, as well as being not unlike the Elio Martinelli Serpente table lamp from the mid-60s. Either way, it's a stylish piece, designed by Charles Bowles and with a spun aluminium semi-sphere shade, solid chromed base and matching cotton braided flex.

John Lewis is the place to grab these, so keep your eye on there for this new arrival, priced around the £350 mark.

Yamagiwa’s Noguchi-style L’uovo Japanese floor light

Egg

Not a million miles away from the classic 1950s Isamu Noguchi table lights (or Ikea's Noguchi-inspired variation), the Yamagiwa L'uovo floor light offers much the same in terms of construction, but offers it up in an egg-shaped package.

Indeed, L'uovo actually does mean egg in Italian and this is a very large egg – around 90cm in height, with that shell made of a Japanese paper that gives off soft and ambient light for your living space via a single bulb inside. Don't worry, we're sure it's been tested thoroughly for fire safety.

Available online, the Yamagiwa L'uovo floor light retails for £533.

Industrial

The title pretty much says it all – a 40s-style Industrial Wooden Desk Lamp, which is available at Graham and Green.

Vintage-style Pharmacy Desk Lamp at Graham & Green

Pharmacy

It might look like a vintage find, but the Pharmacy Desk Lamp at Graham & Green is actually a brand new piece of design.

Very much inspired by the 1930s, this rather smart desk lamp has a swivel adjust, chrome-lined hood, which you can adjust with just a twist of the wing nut, while the on/off button is found on the flex.

If you don't like the red, there's also a green too, with both selling for £119.

Mini Bobo retro-style table lamp at B&Q

Bobo

Another retro gem we spotted at our local B&Q – this Mini Bobo table lamp.

It's a rather smart 70s-style design, in a classic 'eyeball' shape on a matching stand, which also allows you to adjust that light wherever you want it.

If you're not keen on the chrome, there's also a black or a white finish, with all selling at th3e same price – a very affordable £6.98 online.

Clementine 1970s table lights

Clem

These are vintage items, but interestingly, the Clementine table lights available at the Modern Warehouse still come with their original boxes.

Dating back to the 1970s and deriving from Denmark, the lights were presumably a fun rather than high-end design – which it still is today. An alien-like shape that offers up some space age-style mood lighting for your living room.

Not too expensive either – just £40 each.
