58004251oc_12_f
The Ribbon Stool is one of Cappellini’s best-known products, but that doesn’t mean it is above being tampered with.

As part of the collaboration between Cappellini and the Walt Disney Company, the stool has been given a limited edition twist. It has been updated with the iconic Walt Disney Signature Mouse as a backrest. It is available in two sizes, a high stool in yellow (limited to 199 pieces) or a low version in red (an edition of 399).

The high stool costs £701 and the low stool £469 from Yoox.

Charlie

There really are some cracking midcentury-inspired designs on the high street right now, with this Linea Charlie armchair and stool at House of Fraser being up with the best of them.

It's a very stylish 1950s-inspired chair that's exclusive to the store, offering a high back design (with buttoned detail), angled contrast legs and curved arms. There's even a matching stool, for when you want to kick back.

Various colours available (although the green is the most stylish to these eyes), with the chair priced at £299 right now, the stool at £99.

Alvar Aalto 75th Anniversary Artek 60 Stools in Bauhaus colours

Bauhaus

By Bauhaus, we mean the German design house, not the vintage goth band. Otherwise these Alvar Aalto 75th Anniversary Artek 60 Stools would all be black.

But no, they're in a red, yellow and blue lacquer to celebrate 75 years since Aalto created this modernist classic. Indeed, it's a design that's still popular and influential today and no doubt will be even more popular with a splash of bold colour.

As you would expect, the stools are still made of birch and are priced a little more than the plain version, £165 each.

Liberty print stools

Liberty stool

This Liberty print stool is an interesting take on a classic design.

It’s got the shape of a classic early twentieth century stool, with wooden seat and metal legs. However, the primary attraction lies in the Liberty pattern which is printed onto the seat. There’s four designs to pick from all in a classic Liberty style. Pictured is the Caesar pattern, an idiosyncratic peacock feather pattern.

Each stool costs £80.
