Coulson Macleod Etiquette Prints

Pudding1

We mentioned Coulson Macleod’s Decades prints a few weeks ago, but those aren’t the only typographic gems in his range. Also worthy of noting are his series of Etiquette Prints.

The three prints in this range are made up of rules of good old-fashioned manners such as how to treat a lady, table manners and drinking tea. One statement in each print is in a bolder font, and its from these that each one takes it name. Choose from “Napkin Not Serviette”, “Lunch Not Dinner” or “Pudding Not Dessert”. The typeface has a distressed look to it, which combined with the oak frame, adds to the vintage look of the prints.

The prints cost £199 each and can be ordered from the Coulson Macleod website.

Mummola print by Sanna Annukka

Mummola2
New designs from Sanna Annukka are always worthy of note and this Mummola print is an especially nice addition to her shop.

The print is more literal than some of her designs showing a busy stove and well-stacked shelves. Apparently influenced by the memory of her grandmother's kitchen, the colourful pots and pans are inspired by her own collection and will appeal to anyone who has amassed a similar collection.

Printed as a five colour silk screen, the edition is limited to 75 so, if you like it, you'd better snap it up now.

The print costs £195.

Angelheaded Hipsters display at the National Theatre

Angelheaded-hipsters_336fZs3OR

Fans of the Beat Generation should try to check out the new Angelheaded Hipsters display at the National Theatre, London.

The title for the show comes from Allen Ginsberg's infamous poem Howl and the display, organised by photographic agency Corbis, features prints made from images in Ginsberg's archive. Mainly snapshots taken in the early 50s, together they create a fascinating insight into the scene and feature images of the likes of Jack Kerouac, William Burroughs and Neal Cassady.

If that captures your interest, you may also be interested in an event the National Theatre is hosting on 19 Feb. Subtitled 'discovering the beat movement', poet Michael Horovitz and Barry Miles, co-founder of International Times and Ginsberg's biographer, have been invited along to discuss the lasting influence of the Beats.

The display is free, while the event costs £5.
