Disderi Robot 3 35mm camera

Robot3_1

Regular readers will know we can't resist an old school robot or indeed a film-based camera, so it's pretty much guaranteed that we would be giving the Disderi Robot 3 35mm camera.

If you're into your robots, the looks alone have probably sold it. But if quirky photography is your thing, this certainly has that covered. Producing photos with 3 step frames, the camera creates snaps with a unique border shape, making them look like an opened book. You can see what that looks like over the turn – or check out this Flickr group of images produced by the camera.

Best of all? It's cheap – complete with neckstrap and instructions, the Disderi Robot 3 sells for just £13.99.

Summersville Scandi Colour-It-Yourself poster

Scandi poster

Scandi is one of the designs from the hand of Summersville and it's complex pattern of floral and natural looking forms, originally inspired by vintage ceramics. You can buy it as fabric from her Etsy store but excitingly it's also been produced as a Colour-It-Yourself poster

Yes, the retro pattern has been screenprinted onto heavyweight cartridge paper as either a black or raspberry outline and then it's up to you what medium and in what colours you use in fill it in with! That means there's no excuse for the print not fitting in with the rest of your decor.

All this potential for fun costs just £8.50.

Network to reissue David Bailey On Warhol documentary on DVD

Bailey

Don't be fooled by a title. If you already own the Bailey On… DVD which was released back in 2006, you'll effectively already own the forthcoming David Bailey On Warhol, which lands on 18th January 2010. If you don't own it? Well, it's certainly worthy of your attention.

In the early 1970s, David Bailey broadened his horizons away from photography by making high-profile documentaries for ATV. His reputation allowed him unprecedented access to Andy Warhol and his followers, exploring his art work and film works, throwing in candid discussions revolving around sexuality, Warhol’s life at The Factory and his experience of being shot. It was initially banned for being 'offensive', a ban that was overturned soon after.

Also here as 'extras' are two further David Bailey documentaries, one on photographer Cecil Beaton and the other on Italian film director Luchino Visconti, along with a booklet containing the full transcripts (including deleted scenes) for Warhol. You can pre-order now at Amazon for a bargain £4.98.

Datz London

Jim Datz's fantastic Brooklyn poster was featured a little while back. The good news for fans of his 1950s style illustration is that the people at Pedlars have persuaded him to turn his hand to working up a London print.

It's a quirky take on the capital but features all the districts you'd expect, from Soho to Camden to Shoreditch and Brick Lane as well as the compulsory London bus and a black cab.

If you like it, you'll need to be quick as this edition is limited to 400 prints. They come mounted and framed in either black or white and cost £175.
