Schuh eco-friendly Cassette bag

Schuh

Some time back, we featured a reusable bag from Schuh with an Adidas trainer design. It must have been successful as the company has launched another retro-styled design – the Schuh eco-friendly Cassette bag.

Designed to cut down on your plastic bag usage, the new Cassette design features (as you can guess) a large image of a cassette, sturdy construction and some lengthy handles so you can carry on your shoulder.

And it's cheap – just £1.99. Although you might have to hunt around for it, Schuh has informed us that the bag is not going to be sold online, but is being sold at 29 of the company's 54 stores.

Lego to launch brick-like digital camera

Lego_camera

It's aimed at kids, but a lot of us big kids will almost certainly be picking up the Lego digital camera.

The camera is part of a range of gadgets being produced by the company, which also includes video cameras, MP3 players, walkie talkies, boom boxes and radio alarms, all made of Lego bricks, but all arriving ready made.

Details about the camera are scarce, but as it's primarily aimed at kids, expect it to be tough and robust, with the option of re-building the case should there by any 'little accidents'. Initially arriving in the US, the range will sell for between $19.99 and $59.99, which seems cheap enough to me.

Le Corbusier’s Villa Savoye house – made from Lego

Savoye

We rarely feature things on Retro To Go that you can't go out and buy – and this version of Le Corbusier's Villa Savoye house is one of that small number. You'll have to make it yourself in Lego.

This version was made by Matija Grguric, a Lego take on the classic modernist house Villa Savoye, designed by Le Corbusier and built between 1928 and 1929. You'll find the original in Poissy, just outside of Paris and if you want to compare it to the original, you can view images of that here.

Then all you need is a pile of Lego, some patience, an eye for detail and plenty of spare time. If you manage it, send us a picture.

Verner Panton 1960s Dodecahedron candle holders

Panton_candle

For all the big items we buy, sometimes it's those little details that have the most impact – like the Verner Panton Dodecahedron candle holders for example.

Designed back in 1964 and available once more from Unique of Copenhagen, these stylish clear glass vases are available in three sizes (small, medium and large), with each shaped like a dodecahedron (12 sides for the uninitiated – although there's obviously space at the top for adding your light).

Prices start at £34.

BFI Printstore – rare and classic film posters reissued

Bfi1

We're very excited to see the launch of the BFI Printstore, especially with the prospect of being able to buy over 75,000 classic, cult and rare film images for very little money.

There aren't 75,000 online as yet – just 300 – but they are well worth looking at, featuring London Film Festival posters (dating back to 1957), BFI Production titles, European and Hollywood portraits from the 1920s and 30s, British Quota movies,  Mitchell and Kenyon stills, the art of Lotte Reiniger and best of all (from our point of view), the classic Academy Cinema posters from Peter Strausfeld.

The one above (for Tonite Let's All Make Love In London) sells for as much as £800, so it's great that you can now pick it up from as little as £4.99 (although the price rises up to £199.99 for a super-sized 55-inch canvas option).

Check out the full range via the link below.

Adidas 80s-style sports holdall

Adidas_80s

Adidas
says that its Vintage Sports Holdall is straight out of the archives- and we're safely assuming that archive was sometime in the early 80s.

It's still a solid and distinctive bag almost 30 years on, with all the original Adidas logos on both the body and zips, some suede detailing, a detachable shoulder strap and enough capacity for a weekend away.

You can pick one up online, priced at £59.
