1950s H57 lounge chair by Herbert Hirche reissued

H57

A student of the Bauhaus school, Herbert Hirche was a mainstay of German design, particularly between the 50s and 70s, which was also the period when the H57 lounge chair was created.

Specifically, it hit the market in 1957, with the chair initially created for the Interbau Berlin fair in 1956. Mixing influences of his past and of the era it was designed in, the minimalistic chair has a wonderfully curved fibreglass shell that's padded for comfort, with those skinny angled legs made of steel.

This Richard Lampert reissue is available with fabric, suede or leather finishes (the latter with chrome legs), prices starting at £1,687.

1960s CH468 chair by Hans J Wegner goes into production for first time

Aram

You can't say that the CH468 chair by Hans J Wegner is an icon of the era, purely because the chair never actually went into production when it was designed, which was back in the 1960s.

But it is going into production in 2010, launching during the London Design Festival in September. The chair was first designed by Wegner in 1960s, with Carl Hansen and Son working from the original drawings, clay models and photos of the prototypes to recreate a lost gem from the 50 years ago.

The frame is brushed stainless steel, the interior frame is handmade in wood and the cushion is in down and foam, all finished off in your choice of material for a truly stylish object. Price? Expect to pay £2,895 when it lands at Aram.

Lotta Kuhlhorn Lindyhop coasters

Lotta-kuhlhorn-lindyhop-coasters

We've featured Lotta Kühlhorn's colourful retro designs before and here's another stylish product from the Swedish designer, these Lindyhop coasters

The design and colour are inspired by the 1930s dance craze but the sugary colours, combined with the black patterns gives them something of a 50s feel too. Whatever decade informs their look, there's no denying they would be a colourful addition to any home. Made from Swedish birch, they're pretty practical too.

A set of the four designs costs £13.95.
