eBay watch: 1960s Crestworth Twiggy lamp

Crest

An interesting, unusual and we would guess, quite rare design on eBay right now – this 1960s Crestworth Twiggy lamp.

Designed in the 1960s and produced into the early 70s, it actually has a look of an early piece (think 1950s for that frame). For your money, you get that distinctive tubular aluminium frame with the rubber ball feet, finished off with a bakelite bulb holder, screw-on shade, which is made of spun aluminium with a 'grey furry' covering.

The size is adjustable, going to a total length of 44cm, while condition is described as 'excellent'. Some bids already placed, but still at only £27.

eBay watch: Hille midcentury sideboard by Robin Day

Hille

If the seller's description is to be believed (and to be honest, we don't know for sure if it's correct and there's little evidence offered outside of the seller's opening statement), this is a Hille midcentury sideboard by Robin Day.

To be fair it does have the look of other similar sideboards we have seen, but as ever with large designer purchases, it's always buyer beware. Saying that, it's a stylish unit, made of teak with black enamelled doors, aluminium handles and three internal adjustable shelves within the 6ft unit.

Described as being in 'good vintage condition' with 'only a few surface marks consistant with age', you can bid for this midcentury piece if you have £500 to spare.

eBay watch: 1960s Quant-like mirror

Quant

Ok, it's not made by Mary Quant, but this Finnish 1960s mirror certainly has the look of the Mary Quant daisy.

It's actually from the right decade, apparently made by Finnish company Makisen Kuvastin and offering up a brown and white plastic frame with the round mirror sat within, the whole thing around 52.5cm wide.

Sold in 'very good condition', it has just one bid on it at the moment, but that bid is just 99 pence.

eBay watch: 1970s Sankyo 204H Day-Glo digital alarm clock

Sankyo

No chance of being woken up by internet or DAB radio, but the Sankyo 204H Day-Glo digital alarm clock on offer here will certainly brighten up your bedroom – in more ways than one.

A white case with black display and large red figures (known also as a 'mosaic' display apparently) which are very bold in the dark, the clock also throws out some brightness during the day too, hence the name. Buzz alarm as you might have guessed – no radio whatsoever on this mains-powered clock.

A very eye-catching period piece and in 'impeccable condition' says the seller. well worth the current bid price of 99 pence.

eBay watch: Rafael Bogarin signed op art print

Bogarin

If you want affordable art, try eBay. Ok, your average Sir Peter Blake print is rarely (if ever) going to sell for buttons, but if you want some interesting imagery that isn't going to cost a fortune, there's loads of it.

This striking Rafael Bogarin signed op art print, known as Jupiter 4, is a typical example. This hand-signed silkscreen print of a work by the Venezuelan artist was produced in 1981 in a limited edition of 295 and probably sold for a few quid in its day.

But right now, you can have this on our wall via eBay for just £6.50. An absolute steal. See the seller's other items too, plenty of similar works for similar prices.

eBay watch: 1960s Balinese Girl print by Tretchikoff

Tretch

Going back a few years, every junk shop and house clearance place in every town had a stack of old Tretchikoff prints that the owner couldn't get rid off. Or at best, he or she could get around £5 for one. But times and tastes change and your average original Tretchikoff print goes for a decent sum of money these days. So this Balinese Girl print by Tretchikoff is actually reasonable value right now.

Like most of these things, it was bought in the 1960s off the high street, where Tretchikoff's work was big business in the affordable art world. This example (as the sticker shows) was bought at Boots, claimed to be in 'excellent' condition and sized at 25 x 21 inches.

Current bids stand at £25, which still makes it reasonable. They often go for mcuh more and growing scarcity for original framed works means they will only go up in value. Tastes permitting.
