An interesting choice of title for a V&A reissue – the original 1960s biography of Mary Quant, going by the name of Quant by Quant.
Our readers will be delighted that there's still a heavy vintage influence on autumn winter looks this year, with a particular slant towards the 60s and 70s.
These Sonya Mary Janes from ASOS are clearly inspired by one of the quintessential designers of the period, Mary Quant. The monochrome colour scheme, block heel and ankle strap give the shoes a real retro 60s asthetic. They're positively screaming out to be worn with a monochrome shift dress and plenty of false eyelashes.
The Sonya Mary Jane Shoes are £40 from ASOS. See the website for more details.
There are a couple of these on eBay right now (you can see the other and cheaper one here), but we've opted for this Austin Mini Mary Quant Designer Edition because, quite simply, it looks a better car.
Both have been reconditioned though, so both worth a look if you are after one of these cars, which are certainly becoming more collectible as the years pass. This one, from 1988, has been significantly restored without affecting the original design, with parts and labour put at about £2,000. See the listing for a breakdown of upgrades.
Mileage is 70,500, condition is said to be 'excellent' and the Quant interior is intact. The bidding right now is £1,019. Lots of images on the listing page.
