Arne Jacobsen 1950s 3300 easy chair for Fritz Hansen

Jacobsen

Another gem of a design from Arne Jacobsen for the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen – the Fritz Hansen 3300 easy chair.

Dating back to 1956 and still deserving of the label 'timeless', the 3300 easy chair offers up that slimline chromed base, supporting seating that's both formal and above all, comfortable. Leather finish naturally – although you can get it with a fabric cover if you prefer.

That fabroc option is certainly the cheaper, with prices starting at £2,402, rising to a minimum of £3,427 for the leather.

Pentax goes retro with the newly-launched Optio I-10 digital camera

Pentax_i10

If you like the look of the Olympus E-P1, but didn't much care for the price, here's another stylish retro camera to consider – the Pentax Optio I-10.

Sadly it's not pushing the same technological boundaries as the Olympus effort, but it is stil a very good digital compact camera, offering up a 12-megapixel sensor, 5x optical zoom, auto focus and exposure and face recognition, the latter able to accurately detect up to 32 faces in a single shot. Oh yes and for animal lovers, it can even capture up to two or three dog and cat faces too.

Throw in HD (720p) video recording and that two-tone 60s style and you've got a very tasty piece of kit, which will be available from next month for £199.99.

Longhorn Lass Shirt from Mod Cloth

Modcloth

In the late 60s and early 70s an old-fashioned Americana was making waves both in the US and the UK. Country styles are perfect for achieving a lesser seen retro look, making this Longhorn Lass top from Mod Cloth an ideal choice.

The shirt avoids being hokey and clichéd, while still having an instantly country and western look. Stiff unbleached denim is embellished with floral border detailing around the chest, creating the perfect balance between utilitarian and girly clothing.

It's available online from Mod Cloth for $52.99.

Knotted Dress by Karen Millen

Kmknotted

While little black dresses are always talked about as a must have wardrobe item, retro lovers know there's always room for more than one. This Knotted Dress by Karen Millen is a great forties/fifties style version that's perfect for all year round evening wear.

The retro look is created by the shape, with a pencil skirt offset by a daring neckline. A plunging v-neck sloping up to a wide collar-line creates a great vintage style bustline, accentuated by the knot detail in front. The stretch jersey fabric gives it a figure-hugging fit that's easy to wear and wash.

It's available online from ASOS for £165.

LG takes TV back to the 1960s with the Serie 1 television

Lg_retro1

When it comes to cutting edge TV, no-one is doing more to push things along than Korean giant LG – which makes the arrival of the 1960s-inspired Serie 1 television all the more puzzling. Not that we're complaining.

A nice alternative to the Brionvega Doney, Algol or Alpha (or indeed, converting your existing set with something like the 50s-style M21 console), the Serie 1 uses not-quite-2010 CRT technology and a 4:3 aspect ratio for something that's both retro and usable in the modern era. Although that 14-inch screen might test your eyes. On the plus side, a digital tuner will at least give you all the channels (even in old school black and white with a touch of a button) and composite video connectivity means you can hook up a last-generation games console. Nice chrome legs and screen dials too.

Want one? well, right now that will mean a trip to Korea, where the LG Serie 1 sells for around £134 (approximately $216). No news of a UK launch, but if we kick up enough of a fuss, who knows? See another image over the page.
