Sir Peter Blake produces signed limited edition prints for In the Long Run: 30 Years of the Great North Run

Blake

Something of a coup for us here – we have a first, straight from the studio, look at a print from the forthcoming In the Long Run: 30 Years of the Great North Run series, the work of Sir Peter Blake.

As part of a collaboration between Bupa Great North Run Culture and Opus Art, Sir Peter Blake is producing a portfolio of 10 limited edition prints which will celebrate 30 years of the Great North Run as well as the heritage of running. The images will be on display at an exhibition at the Great North Museum from 17th July – 17th October 2010, with editions of the prints for sale exclusively through Opus Art.

Horrockses Fashions exhibition opens at the Fashion and Textile Museum

Horrockses-exhibition

We mentioned this a while back when we were talking about the V&A's range of Horrockses-inspired products and now is your chance to see some of the originals as the Horrockses Fashions: Off the Peg style in the '40s and '50s opens at London's Fashion and Textile Museum.

Horrockses Fashions were best known for their full-skirted, bold and brightly printed cotton dresses. The exhibition gives you the opportunity to find out a bit more about the label and the people – including the Queen – who wore them, as well as ogle their unique and coveted designs. An accompanying book by the exhibition curator, Christine Boydell, is available for £17.49 from Amazon.

The exhibition opens on Friday, 9 July and runs until 24 October.

Teenage Kicks limited edition book by Pete McKee

Teenagekicks3

We're big fans of Pete McKee's retro-style illustrations and if you are too, you might want to get your hands on his new Teenage Kicks book.

It's the book version of his most recent exhibition, which celebrates the good, the bad and the ugly influences music has had on fashion. All 22 paintings from the collection are featured, along with additional sketches, all signed by the artist and limited to just 500 copies in total.

Included with the book is a special etched piece of white vinyl featuring the image Booty and the Beat (above). The book and vinyl are packaged in a special 12-inch record sleeve, with Phil Oakey of the Human League doing the foreword. You can see that packaging over the page or head to the artist's site to get one. Price is a not-inconsiderable £120.

Limited edition Quilts stool at the V&A

Quilts

The V&A is currently hosting its Quilts 1700 – 2010 exhibition and as with most exhibitions, offering a selection of associated merchandise too. Which includes this rather smart limited edition Quilts stool.

The shape is very much early 20th century (think Alvar Aalto's Stool 60), with the design on the birch veneer top adapted from a patchwork coverlet of printed cotton and linen with appliqué and embroidery, dating from the early part of the 19th century. Just in case you were wondering.

That top is supported by metal legs and the whole thing is being sold as a limited edition, although it's not clear just how limited it is. Reasonably priced though at £50.
