Wool Mix Duffel Coat from Pepe Jeans

Pepecoat

While duffel coats remain a classic retro wardrobe staple for the colder months, there's always room for a vintage inspired twist in womenswear. This Wool Mix Duffel Coat from Pepe Jeans combines the best elements from a variety of vintage outerwear looks to create a perennial retro chic.

The high neckline and peter pan collar combine with an A-line swing coat shape, giving an instantly mid-sixties silhouette. The duffel fastenings, limited to two at the neck, add some retro detailing without taking away from the elegance of the shape.

It's available now from ASOS for £125.

Mini creates retro-style electric scooter for the modern-day mod

Scoot1

According to the Der Spiegel site, BMW's Mini offshoot is moving into the scooter market. Specifically the electric scooter market – and with a retro twist.

The mod version is described as the 'Anglophile' and is being pitched at 'modern-day mods'. Eco-friendly ones anyway.

1960s Take Ivy book by Teruyoshi Hayashida reissued by Powerhouse

Takeivy

An interesting book from 40+ years ago is getting a reissue very soon – Take Ivy by Teruyoshi Hayashida.

Originally released in Japan in 1965 (and sought after since by collectors of the style), the book is a unique collection of photos of Ivy League students and as such, a superb reference guide to the Ivy look in its prime over the 142 pages within.

Back then, it kicked off an Ivy obsession in Japan and as the look is very much back in 2010, it might well do brisk business this year too. You can pick up Take Ivy from 14th October, with Amazon doing discounted pre-orders of the hardback book for at £11.69.
