eBay watch: Vintage Airstream caravan

Airstream

We have featured recent models of these, but at a price in excess of £35,000, a new one is out of the reach of most of us. Alternatively, you can rent one for a holiday or you can bid for this vintage Airstream caravan on eBay.

Details are limited on this particular listing, but there are plenty of pictures to tell the story. The few details available say this is a 1976, 31ft, Airstream caravan that has 'just been imported' and is available for delivery. The downside is the state of the inside – let's just say a full refurbishment is required.

But with the price of those new ones being so high, this old model could prove something of a profitable project if you wish to take it on. £3,000 is the price. See the listing for lots of inside shots.

eBay watch: 1970s Heath digital super clock

Heath

An interesting design that still catches the eye 35 years after it was introduced – this Heath digital super clock.

It's apparently a 1976 design, with a teak case and a bold digital display, with each orange digital number 'the size of a cigarette box' on a black background. There are also controls on the back for setting the time, with mains offering the power.

The seller claims it is, 'very well-tended, hardly used or probably unused', with little or no signs of age. A few bids on this right now, but the price is still only £6.64, albeit with some days to go.

For sale (at a reduced price): Cameron’s house in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, located in Highland Park, Illinois, USA

Ferris1

Remember this? Of course you do, this is Cameron's house (aka the 'Ferrari House') from John Hughes' 80s teen classic, Ferris Bueller's Day Off. We featured it when the house went up for sale back in 2009 and said back then, if we had the money, we would be all over it. Well, according to Gizmodo, the economic slowdown seems to have hit the luxury property market, so the money required to buy this midcentury gem in Highland Park, Illinois, USA is much less than it was back then.

As you undoubtedly recall, this glass and steel construction was owned by the parents of Cameron Frye and housed the infamous Ferrari, which Cameron and Ferris used to get around town during that 'day off'. That's not included in the sale (it was sold last year) – but you'll find the garage, which is capable of holding up to three cars, classic or not.

1960s Take Ivy book by Teruyoshi Hayashida reissued by Powerhouse

Takeivy

An interesting book from 40+ years ago is getting a reissue very soon – Take Ivy by Teruyoshi Hayashida.

Originally released in Japan in 1965 (and sought after since by collectors of the style), the book is a unique collection of photos of Ivy League students and as such, a superb reference guide to the Ivy look in its prime over the 142 pages within.

Back then, it kicked off an Ivy obsession in Japan and as the look is very much back in 2010, it might well do brisk business this year too. You can pick up Take Ivy from 14th October, with Amazon doing discounted pre-orders of the hardback book for at £11.69.

Classic World Cup football shirts of tournaments past at Toffs

Toffs_1
Don’t know about you, but we much prefer the classic football shirts of days gone by to the super-thin, synthetic numbers of the modern-era. Just as well you can still buy classic World Cup shirts at Toffs.

Of course you can buy an England 1966 shirt, a Brazil 1970 (above), a Holland 1974, an Argentina 1986 or an Italia 1982 track top. Indeed, you can pick up every ‘big name’ team from just about every eras. But you can also pick up some of the more niche shirts of past and current World Cup participants too – like the USA 1950 shirt, also pictured above.

Or to be really niche, check out a 1960s Japan football shirt over the page, as well as the shirt worn by Australia in their first World Cup in 1975. Most prices are around the £34.99 mark, but start at £19.99. Check out the full range at the site.
