Jonathan Adler’s Lolita-style sunglasses case

Petit_heartsunglass_pink

With summer fading into a memory for another year, it's sadly time to put the sunglasses away. What better way to keep them in style than with Jonathan Adler's heart sunglasses case

Since the 1962 film, heart sunglasses will forever be associated with Lolita and they still frequently crop up on the catwalk. The motif on this case is immaculately crafted using needlepoint and uses a Lolita-style colour scheme too – red frames against a bubblegum pink background.

The case costs £30.

Vivienne Westwood shoe retrospective at Selfridges

Westwood shoes

Since making her mark in the 1970s, Vivienne Westwood's designs have continued to innovate and inspire. A new display at London's Selfridges - Vivienne Westwood Shoes, An Exhibition 1973 – 2010 celebrates her contribution to the world of footwear.

The display is situated in the store's Ultralounge and will contain almost 200 pairs of shoes. It'll include the now iconic pirate boot, dating from the 80s and her rocking horse shoes, as well as the platforms in the style that famously caused Naomi Campbell to take a tumble on the catwalk that time. It'll be brought up-to-date with her recent collaboration with Melissa (pictured), shoes that owe more than a passing nod to retro influences.

The exhibition runs from 26 August until 22 September.

Grace Kelly: Style Icon forthcoming display at the V&A

Grace Kelly style icon exhibition

If you are a fan of the classic style of Grace Kelly, you'd better put the dates 17 April until 26 September in your diary when the V&A Museum will be hosting the display Grace Kelly: Style Icon.

The show features fifty of Kelly's outfits ranging from her time as a Hollywood starlet in the 1950s to her role as Princess Grace of Monaco. The dresses include costumes from her famous films such as High Society and Rear Window, as well as clothes that illustrate her off-screen style, and will be supplemented with photographs and film footage. The display also includes perhaps her most lasting contribution to the world of fashion, the original Hermes Kelly bag.

Admission is £6 which sounds a pretty reasonable fee for vintage film and fashion fans.

‘Vintage…and more’ fashion fair 27 September

Vintage_Fashion_London

Another new London vintage fair event for the calendar, the 'Vintage..and more' fashion fair which is being held at the Byam Shaw College of Art, N19, this Sunday 27 September.

As well as the typical array of vintage clothing stalls, the '…and more' bit of the title refers to the fact they'll also be selling customised items of clothing and will be featuring makers who create new designs from vintage fabric. Because of this, they are promising a larger-than-usual selection of clothes for men and kids. There will also be a section devoted entirely to haberdashery.

The fair runs from between 11am and 5pm. Entrance costs just £3 (or £2 for students) but the bargain hunting starts early as there's the opportunity to request free entrance tickets on their website.
